COI for Richard Scrushy
Hi there. I was wondering if you had a conflict of interest when editing the page Richard Scrushy. Your edits appear to brush over his criminal convictions to a major extent, and appear to have decreased the quality of the article. Why have these edits been made in this way? Kind regards, End (talk) 03:31, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
- My intention was not to “brush over” his convictions at all. The Birmingham criminal trial, Montgomery criminal trial, Birmingham civil judgment, and related litigation are still in the article, with multiple citations to DOJ releases and major news outlets (NBC, ABC, BMJ, etc.). What I tried to do was: Condense a very long, trial‑by‑trial narrative into a single, neutral “Legal issues” section, so that the page isn’t dominated by procedural detail. Make sure the article lead and structure also cover his founding and leadership of HealthSouth and MedPartners, his Fortune 500‑scale business roles, and his later advisory and writing work, so the article reflects his entire public career. Mention the documentary Atticus v. the Architect in a descriptive way, citing IMDb and news coverage, without using it to override the legal outcomes that are already sourced to DOJ and court reports. - Two things here:
- Firstly, you have brushed over his convictions. The lead that you wrote (and that another editor has now changed) had the legal convictions part begin with "although" which definitely downplays the severity of the situation.
- Secondly, do you or do you not have a connection with Richard Scrushy? COI editing is very much discouraged, and I would like to know how to proceed with this article. End (talk) 03:42, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
