Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) caste-related topics in South Asia.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
I also recommend reviewing WP:ECREXPLAIN, which more specifically lays out expectations and best practices for new editors in highly contentious topics. signed, Rosguill talk 14:50, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
- This comment falls afoul of the above restriction on topics relating to military history in India. Please refrain from engaging in these topics until you have 500 edits. signed, Rosguill talk 20:59, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, usually I don't edit contentious pages. In this case the comment was posted in talk page which was not a disruptive comment. According to ECR A1: Non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace only to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided they are not disruptive. Should disruption occur on "Talk:" pages, administrators may take enforcement actions described in "B" or "C" below.
- Even in previous course, I engaged in constructive democratic process about the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where my only comment was deleted, rest were kept as they were. In the end, the result taken was the one I favored. I am not bragging it, I am just saying there were other people who had similar comment like me. And that was not even regular article seen by public.
- Anyway, I only comment on contentious topic when I think something is outright opposite and can easily caught attention of anyone. Not even the ones that can be slightly doubted. JsEnthusiast (talk) 23:10, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

Broken others' comments
In this edit, did you mean to remove two other editors' comments? And you might have also not realized that it is not a vote, so your comment would only be useful if it had an explanation of your reasoning. DMacks (talk) 09:57, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
- It was a conflicting edit. I did not remove any comment but my comment was written before those two. And when I published mistakenly both of them got removed. So, I undid my edit. JsEnthusiast (talk) 13:16, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
Chauhaan moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to Chauhaan. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and WP:TOONSOON. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. More Than Nothing (talk) 11:45, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
