Hello

Hello JLAN,

Happy New Year, I hope this new finds you well. Just a quick note to say hello, I have returned briefly to add a couple of articles I have bashed out.

Kind regards, Cavalryman (talk) 12:39, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

Well, that is very good news – I actually thought of writing to you again about that a month or so ago. And yes, happy new year! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:24, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

Your are continuing to violate consensus of WikProject:Equine

Your recent edit Special:Diff/1332759872 is still ignoring consensus which I brought up multiple times, starting at least as early as August 2025 and running through December 2025.

See your user talk page threads:

Your unwillingness to follow consensus and your stubborn insistence on "your way only" is disruptive editing.   ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 18:38, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

@Grorp: I strongly encourage you to file a report at WP:AN. As you indicate above, JLAN is unresponsive to these types of discussions and this should be elevated. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:07, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Ghar Lapsi Content Removal

Hello Just Letters and Numbers,

I hope you are well. Just wanted to check in to see if there is any reason why you removed almost all of what I added on the page of 'Ghar Lapsi', a picturesque bay in Malta. I'm not entirely sure why you felt the need to remove it and I would have gladly corrected any information that was inaccurate, especially since I currently live in Malta and follow some trends and national news here despite not being natively from Malta. Lovemusicgermany (talk) 22:03, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi, Lovemusicgermany! As you can see, the edit summary I left for my edit to Għar Lapsi was "rm unsourced content, ce to what factual content the source reports". Most of what you added to that page was without any reliable source, and much of the rest was not written in the factual neutral tone we expect in an encyclopaedia. The reference you added is an acceptable one, thank you for that; unfortunately it doesn't give much actual information about what was damaged (and oddly does not even mention the damage to Filfla). Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:25, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind reply @Justlettersandnumbers. I understand your point of view and commit myself to making Wikipedia a better place. If you would be so kind as to reinstate the material (or tell me how), I will gladly rephrase it in a neutral tone and add more references, including the damage to Filfa, which I coincidentally saw on the news the day after I edited the section. Looking forward and take care. Lovemusicgermany (talk) 17:17, 24 January 2026 (UTC)

Grams are a measure of mass

I see that you reverted my edits to Hamburg chicken regarding how the measurements should be discussed. Though I agree that it's not a physics article, this is no excuse for using incorrect terminology. Weight is measured in Newtons (which is what physicists like to use) or pounds force (as in a weighing scale).

If we can't agree on who's right here, perhaps we should take it to WP:3O and get an independent resolution? GrinningIodize (talk) 14:26, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Well, perhaps so, GrinningIodize. Or perhaps you might give it a moment's thought first? Mass is called weight in almost every conceivable context outside the realm of physics. Or can you find me examples (text or image) of (1) an overmass person, (2) a weltermass boxer, (3) a vendor who sells vegetables by mass, (4) a box of fishing masses or (5) a ship whose cargo capacity is called its deadmass? On the specific topic of poultry, this is a standard text on the subject. The word 'weight' occurs on 201 of 507 pages, the word 'mass' on two (one in relation to body size, one in relation to feathers). There are 1803 articles assessed by the Livestock Breeds working group of WP:FARM; how many of those do you see using 'mass' to quantify how heavy the creatures are? Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:29, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
We don't think about "overmass" people because we live on Earth, where having a large mass translates to a large weight. For points 2, 4, and 5, it's not the mass that matters but rather the weight, as opposed to an egg or a chicken, where mass is useful because you're measuring the amount of that thing.
As for point #3, if a vendor is selling by weight and not mass, that's their problem (not to say that it's uncommon, but it would certainly be flawed by nature). Your link to the list of articles is interesting, because if you visit the page about the Buckeye chicken, you'll see that it measures weight in pounds (though it doesn't specify the exact units, on Earth one pound mass is about the same as one pound force). Unlike the article for the Hamburg chicken, that article specifies mass without treating it as weight. GrinningIodize (talk) 15:52, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
Additionally, the "standard text" that you reference is not using the word "weight" correctly at all. Appeal to authority does not make your ideas correct. GrinningIodize (talk) 15:57, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
OK, you seem determined to make an argument out of nothing, which of course is your prerogative, though hardly helpful in improving the encyclopaedia. I've no interest in participating further in this futile discussion, so please take it elsewhere if you can't just drop it. I wish you well, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:43, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
Would it be okay if I reverted it back then? I don't want to start a fight, but I really think that we should put it back to my version or seek a third opinion. GrinningIodize (talk) 17:15, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Peachy Keenan

Hello, I saw you deleted Peachy Keenan. It was a well-sourced stub, with cites to major newspapers, that did not in my opinion meet speedy deletion. Could you please restore it. If there is an opinion it should be deleted, it can be nominated for deletion. Best, Thriley (talk) 14:17, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi, Thriley, how are you? OK, I've done that! So, I deleted those six short sentences as WP:A7, no indication of importance. My thinking was/is that neither holding an opinion nor publishing a book are in themselves indications of significance, as both are things that anybody can do (and many often do). Courtesy ping to XlosVSM. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:35, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
I appreciate it. I've been moving a lot of drafts of mine into article space. I'm a proponent of well-sourced stubs, which this is. Keenan is more of a commentator/conservative activist than an author, which the different sources describe in some detail. I'll try to expand it a bit in the coming days. Thriley (talk) 16:45, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
It was my intention to either move to draft space or nomination for deletion, but I couldn't find the proper method to do either them (with my previous attempt at moving to draft space being messy). XlosVSM (talk) 23:46, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Could I get the two recently G5 deleted cave article in my userspace?

I would like to take a look and see if they are still worthy of inclusion or can be cleaned up.

Thanks! Kingsmasher678 (talk) 13:56, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
OK, done that, Kingsmasher678. These pages were created by a sock of a user I had to block for persistent copyright violations. I've run a quick check on both and found no problems, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any. So, please, use the page structure (templates, refs, categories and so on) as you wish, but write new text in your own words to go with them. Thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:56, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
Will do, thanks!

Rotax 449

Hi There.. you deleted the Rotax 449 page claiming it was nonsense. but I actually own one so Im afraid you are incorrect. I would really appreciate it if you wouldnt delete the article. The picture in the article is of the free air cooled 449 I own. Thanks Rbunnings447 (talk) 10:17, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi, Rbunnings447! If you look at Draft:Rotax 449, you'll see that I deleted it not as nonsense but as "G15: Unreviewed LLM-generated content (non-existent or nonsensical references5x WP:CIRCULAR)". I can't know whether you used AI to write the page(?), but using Wikipedia as a reference to itself is a common indication of AI use, and I took it as such. I can restore the page if you wish, but unless you have to hand at least three solid independent reliable sources that actually discuss the thing in detail (of which there are none at the moment), there probably isn't much point. Sorry about that, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:15, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

Updating Lea Feinstein article

Hello, I'm working to update copyright issues on the Lea Feinstein page that I originally published on 3/26. I have rewritten the text and included relevant links, but am struggling with formatting the citations. I have published my recent updates on the talk page, but I am having trouble with citations, as they all keep listing as number "1" Can you advise how to resolve this problem? Thank you! CindyRehm (talk) 22:22, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

Well, CindyRehm, you hadn't created a reference section; I've done that for you. But that isn't the most important problem: the reason I blanked the previous version of the page was that it contained copyright violations, stuff you'd copy-pasted from non-free external sources. If you just add the same text to the rewrite, that too will contain copyright violations – which it does, please see this. What you need to do is:
  • assemble your references
  • read what useful information each one contains, and then
  • write new text with the same meaning but not the same words
  • don't write anything that isn't supported by the source cited or anything that's copied from the source cited
All the stuff about "work ... focused on the practice and discipline of art making as a daily gesture to process life and the world" and so on can just be removed – all we need here are the plain facts and the sources that support them. Just in case it's of interest (and absolutely not as an example of anything particularly good), this is a page I wrote a while ago on an artist I knew very little about. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:07, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Your suggestions have ben very helpful, thank you! I have cleaned up the text to be more straightforward and added citations. Please advise if this article looks ok now. If so, can I move the page or do I need your help doing that? ~2026-19926-85 (talk) 15:18, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Hello, I have updated the Lea Feinstein page. Please next steps. Can I move the page or do I need your help?
Thanks!
Cindy ~2026-19926-85 (talk) 19:48, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
CindyRehm, please log in to your account to edit. I've looked at your draft rewrite and parts of it at least appear to be a close paraphrase of this]. I don't think it's usable, but will leave the decision to someone else. No, you can't move it yourself, only an administrator or copyright clerk can do that. Meanwhile, do you have a conflict-of-interest or paid editing disclosure to make? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:27, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
I have made another edit to the section you mentioned.
There is not conflict or payment associated with this page. I was part of a workshop to preserve the art of women artist many years ago and I hope to make more pages to preserve the work of women artists in the near future. I'm still new to the process and am gaining a better understanding of how to construct a page and deal with content. I appreciate your feedback and guidance in the process! CindyRehm (talk) 15:37, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
Well, CindyRehm, your first steps should probably be to read about notability and reliable sources. As I said above, I'm going to leave it to someone else to take this matter forward, so we can end this conversation here. Good luck, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:01, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

Iljhgtn files

Hello, I was recently reverting some removals of book covers. In the words of another editor Innisfree987 "The cover is going to look the same no matter who adds it, removing this just creates more work for others to reupload it". I can't revert the removal once the file was already deleted, and now the same exact file has to be reuploaded again. I don't think this is the best way to go about removing this user's contributions when they're going to have to be readded anyway. I raised this with the editor who tagged them but wanted to hear from your side as well as the deleting admin. -- Reconrabbit 15:03, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Basically: can you undelete these files so they can be re-added to the articles? -- Reconrabbit 16:25, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
Hi, Reconrabbit, how are you? I'm sorry that some deletions by me have inconvenienced you, obviously not my intent. My thoughts are (in no particular order): deletion/removal of their content is essentially the only weapon we have to deter sockpuppets; cleaning up after socks inevitably (unfortunately) inconveniences other, good-faith, editors (as does clean-up after other unacceptable behaviours such as copyright violation); that inconvenience/collateral damage isn't a reason to refrain from the clean-up; no-one has any obligation to repair gaps/damage left by the removal of sock content, but anyone is free to do so if they so wish. Conclusion: I'm reluctant to restore these files.
That said, if you tell me what files they are, I'll email you the contents (unless there's a very large number of them?). Note: this sock has over a thousand non-free image uploads – I was considering deleting more of them ... Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:54, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
I only know of the ones that were reverted by SG5536B. Page not AI

Hello,

How do we re-publish Omadal Expedition? The page reviewer said that they could not find instances of the words in the sources. However, they are in there. They have also not responded to any of my messages. This article was not written using AI, I just need someone who knows what they're doing to read the article and re-publish it. Guylaen (talk) 19:21, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Guylaen, you've submitted your draft, now you can sit back and wait for an experienced reviewer to evaluate its suitability for the encyclopaedia; unfortunately this may take some time, as there are thousands of drafts awaiting review. Why do you say "we" – is there more than one person associated with this account? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:06, 18 April 2026 (UTC)

Australian Lowline

Agree on the your edit removing "well-marbled", I spent a few minutes trying to find neutral phrasing before accepting that leaving it to someone else was wise. I see though that you introduced "is well-flavoured"; is this a euphemism for tasty or are you trying to express "the opposite of bland" etc? Whonting (talk) 11:41, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

Well, Whonting, my intent at that page as elsewhere is to report what the sources say in as neutral and encyclopaedic a way as possible (and without euphemism); the source in question is this. I thought you'd removed 'tasty' as insufficiently formal for this project; was I wrong? Anyway, please go ahead and make whatever change you think fit. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:12, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
Ta, I'll do so now. I've been going through articles to remove/attribute "tasty" on the basis that such assessments are necessarily opinions that don't belong in wikivoice. I can spell that out if the links to WP:VOICE are too unclear. Whonting (talk) 22:38, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

FYI you specified the wrong user in this G5 deletion. * Pppery * in solidarity 03:25, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your sharp-eyed vigilance, Pppery, good catch! That was a mistaken deletion, a failure to deselect it while batch-deleting pages that actually were created by a sock of that user. I've undeleted it, and will leave it to someone else to make the G5 call (I don't believe G4 could possibly apply, given the substantial differences between the versions). Wholesale reversion instead of specific

Look, I don't know why you think it's appropriate to fully revert an article's edits if you disagree with some (or even several) of another editor's changes. I'm perfectly willing to discuss and permit many of the changes I make to something else, including what was previously there. But to discount an entire edit entirely is both wasteful and inefficient, to say nothing of being disrespectful. It takes, what, ten seconds to revert with a comment, so that's an easy way to handle it; but for many editors and writers, it takes tens of minutes or much longer to read and make changes. It's not vandalism. It's not careless. Please show some thoughtfulness. If you'd be willing to discuss what else you object to, such as on the article about the Pyrenean Mountain Dog, I'm fine talking it through. Just don't eliminate my work just because you're dissatisfied about something which results in all my time being wasted. --SidP (talk) 21:00, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

SidP, you're wasting your own time by making numerous edits at once, mixing the potentially useful ones with the clearly incorrect. Try making one at a time, perhaps? Cavalryman, are you still watching the Pyrenean Mountain Dog article by any chance? If so, do you have any comment on recent edits to the page? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:13, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
Making one edit at a time seems unreasonable. I'm not going to even enumerate all the reasons why. If you want to message me with which details you find so objectionable you can't take the time to make the changes yourself, then send them to me, and I'll do it, instead of a blanket reversion. I suppose I should brush up on my WP knowledge of when it is appropriate to do a revert, but I don't think it's conscientious the times I've seen you do it to me. I have no agenda here. And I'm not insistent my way is the only way. Not trying to make any trouble. If this is some kind of pet project (pun noticed but not intended) for you and anyone else, I can understand why you're being so protective, but let's do this in the spirit of collaboration. --SidP (talk) 21:20, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
Apologies for late response, yes I was watching and was intending to try to wade through all of the edits when I had some time. I endorse this revert , it is onerous wading through a dozen edits. But I am comfortable with where the article is now. Kind regards, Cavalryman (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2026 (UTC). edited 07:18, 6 June 2026 (UTC).

Question about pages created by User:Dutchy85

Hi Justlettersandnumbers, I have recently been reviewing pages at Articles for Creation by user Australiantheatre. The pages are editorially fine and probably meet notability. Many of the draft articles have the same names as pages created by User:Dutchy85. For example, see Draft:Shipwreck (play) or Draft:Daisy, Daisy (TV play). Could you evaluate whether this is the same user, based on comparing the deleted page text against the draft page text? :) CopyleftEverything (talk) 23:41, 19 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, CopyleftEverything! I agree that the overlap (100%) seems a little too much for coincidence, please see this. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:21, 20 June 2026 (UTC)
Good catch, by the way, CopyleftEverything! Reagrds, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:42, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks. Feels bad, the articles were basically fine. Have a great day! :) CopyleftEverything (talk) 11:48, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

KiwiManic's articles

Hi Justlettersandnumbers, I am just writing regarding a deleted New Zealand law and order article called Wrongful conviction of David Lyttle, which was deleted back in late April 2026. It was created by a now-banned user Kiwimanic, who was banned as a sockpuppet for a long-term ban evader Offender9000, who was banned for POV editing and antagonising other users. Given the article's notability in NZ criminal history, would it be possible to recreate it as a draft. Me and other users could then rewrite it to remove any trace of Kiwimanic's work and to ensure it complies with Wikipedia policy? Thanks for your time. Andykatib (talk) 03:01, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Andykatib, I'd prefer to email you the text of those pages – if that's OK with you? – which you can then re-create in draft or main space as you think best. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:53, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Hi Justlettersandnumbers, thanks so much. <redacted> will be happy to recreate them in draft form. Cheers. Andykatib (talk) 12:08, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
