Block message:
Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "TRCHRcomms". The reason given for TRCHRcomms's block is: " iconWelcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects. Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account. To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then make a new one. If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. Before requesting your new username, check if it is still available. If the search says "There is no global account for [username]", the username is free to use. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual: You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company". If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. Thank you. ".
Accept reason: I've lifted the autoblock. Sorry for the inconvenience. -- asilvering (talk) 07:08, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
ERcheck: Can you respond to this? It looks like you may have hardblocked with a softblock notice. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:06, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Significa liberdade and Lisangho: It appears that @TRCHRcomms established an apparent group account for TRCHR (Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research) with a "promotional user name" on 25 November 2025 and declared COI on the user page. A COI-username warning was posted on the user talk page; and, subsequently, the TRCHRcomms began editing on the Draft:Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research. As the editor had declared a COI, the block warning was "softer", but IP addresses were blocked (as possibly a group account). No response to the block has been made on the user talk page.
- @Lisangho:
- You created your account on 20 November 2025 and declared a COI with TRCHR; then created Draft:Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, disclosing a paid relationship on 21 November 2025.
- On 25 November, TRCHRcomms' first edit to the draft replaced Lisangho's username with TRCHRcomms for the paid disclosure. This leads to the question below:
- Are you two the same person? See WP:Multiple accounts.
- I recommend that the TRCHR paid editors sort out their accounts, address the block for username (show that they understand username & individual account requirements), as well assuring that both understand Wikipedia's policy on promotional editing, as well as the use of multiple accounts (if applicable). — ERcheck (talk) 06:00, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- @ERcheck, the block notice you applied was uw-softerblock, but you hardblocked. If you intend to hardblock, make sure you block with uw-spamublock. uw-softerblock encourages the blocked editor to make a new account. -- asilvering (talk) 07:04, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Asilvering - I see that now. I'll update the block message. — ERcheck (talk) 12:25, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I started this account to create the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research Wikipedia page and while drafting this page, I created the TRCHRcomms account thinking that I could have a central account for those in my organization. I was then blocked and understood that I could either change my username or create a completely new account. I decided to switch back to this account but then noticed that my IP address was blocked. Now that I understand the rules, I will no longer be using the TRCHRcomms account, will only edit from this account and will guide others in my organization to create their own accounts, moving forward.
- Thanks for the unblock :)
- Take care,
- Lisa Lisangho (talk) 16:08, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
