GA stats

Hey Mike Christie, I was wondering if you could connect the GA stats from my old username "Wolverine XI" to this new one. Thanks, Wolverine X-eye (talk) 04:19, 4 October 2026 (UTC)

Done -- it should take effect the next time the bot updates the stats page. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:53, 4 October 2026 (UTC)

Malformed GA reviews

Hi Mike, there are three reviews giving ChristieBot some trouble. I updated WugBot so that the report lists them as malformed reviews (under malformed nominations) to make them more visible. ChristieBot seems to handle them fine, but letting you know in case they're helpful test cases:

— Wug·a·po·des 02:04, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. The first one I looked at, S. M. Ahsan, was promoted then put back on hold, which confused the bot. I'll have to figure out what to do about that; in general we don't want people reversing promotions but when it's done within a few minutes I can see reviewers might feel it's legit. I'll try to get this sorted out this week. I assume it's the "unknown timestamp" on the GAN page that is bothering WugBot? Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:25, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
Yes, the "unknown timestamp" wasn't expected, but it should be fine now after the update. Is that wording new? The S. M. Ahsan reversal happened in August, so I'm surprised it's causing problems now. Either way, hope the investigation goes well. Sorry that the links above are a mess. Apparently the entry IDs are not static across page revisions. — Wug·a·po·des 04:33, 5 October 2026 (UTC)
Turns out that wasn't the problem; it was caused by me failing to handle an API outage -- when the backend is too busy the API calls fail; I have recovery code but it was missing a couple of cases. Should be OK now. If you see anything else like this, please let me know. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:21, 5 October 2026 (UTC)

Ian Gibbons

Hi there, hope you're doing well!

Care to take another stab at Ian Gibbons for GA Review? -- Ian Gibbons (biochemist)

Also, I really like your thoughts at User:Mike Christie/How I survive Wikipedia. Not easy, but I'll try to mull it over some more.

No problem at all, either way, I suppose it can also wait.

Whatever you like to do, Princessa Unicorn (talk) 19:38, 9 October 2026 (UTC)

Hi -- I'm not currently doing GA reviews but in a month or two I hope to get back to it. If it's still in the queue waiting I might pick it up then. Good luck with the article. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 21:35, 9 October 2026 (UTC)
Okay not a problem at all, again, your essay is inspiring, but not always easy to live up to. I'll do my best, Princessa Unicorn (talk) 21:41, 9 October 2026 (UTC)

Successful GA number mismatch

Hello, Mike. I was wondering if you could check the discrepancy between my GA count at the WP:GAN page where it says (18 reviews, 4 GAs), and this page here where it counts my successful GAs as 3. The sdzerobot is more correct, though. I'm assuming that's because the Indonesia article has two review pages (GA4 and GA5), and when the latter succeeded, it may have counted GA4 as being successful as well, hence the number 4.

FYI, I just want the record/the count to be accurate, nothing more. Thank you. AdaCiccone (talk) 11:41, 13 October 2026 (UTC)

Hi -- I've figured out the problem and will correct it -- I am travelling soon and if it doesn't get done this week it might be November before I can get to it. Thanks for letting me know. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:04, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
Okay, no problem. Thanks a lot! AdaCiccone (talk) 15:17, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
It's fixed and show up correctly the next time the GAN page displays. However, the underlying bug is not fixed; there are over a hundred GAs incorrectly counted as passes over the last four years. So in theory you could see this happen again, though it's unlikely. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 01:01, 15 October 2026 (UTC)
Okay, noted. Thank you! AdaCiccone (talk) 04:49, 24 October 2026 (UTC)

GAN database access

Hi Mike, would I be able to get read-only access to the GAN database ChristieBot uses? I'm particularly interested in the nominations, GA_reviews, and historical_GA_reviews tables. I want to look into the backlog drives again, and would like to avoid duplicating your work on the database. Thanks! — Wug·a·po·des 03:49, 15 October 2026 (UTC)

Hi -- no problem. I've made those three available at database s55175__ganfilter_p. The base tables are refreshed every time ChristieBot runs; what I've made public are copies that refresh overnight (01:37 UTC). If you need them more up to date than that, or have any questions about the data, let me know. FYI I am aware of some bugs in the data; I'm gradually them cleaning up. The main one I know about is that there are 293 outcomes in historical_GA_reviews that are incorrect, though never the most recent one. Those 293 are spread over the last 20 years so they are a small fraction. If you're only interested in a GA's current state, I don't think you'll care. A cup of coffee for you!

FA nom query

Hi Mike, I asked this question on the Discord and was told to check with you - is it possible to run a query for all existing FAs whose nominators are now blocked? And if so, could I impose on you to run it for me when you have a chance? It's nothing urgent, but I'd like to know how common it is. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 20:56, 24 October 2026 (UTC)

Ah, disregard, someone on the channel figured out a way to do it for me. Cheers! ♠PMC♠ (talk) 23:37, 24 October 2026 (UTC)

GAN stats

Hi, ever since I renamed my account the GAN page only shows my account as having 1 GA. Not a big deal but is there any way to fix that? NRP (talk) 19:08, 25 October 2026 (UTC)

There is; just let me know the old name that you want connected to this one. The bot will count the old statistics under your new name. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 03:18, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
Thanks! My old username is NP2026. NRP (talk) 03:22, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
I'll fix it tomorrow. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 03:25, 26 October 2026 (UTC)
Done; it should take effect the next time the bot updates the page. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 08:09, 26 October 2026 (UTC)

October 2026

Hi Mike,

seeing you in the George Formby discussion, could you maybe take a look at some other maybe problematic behavior of this user, or tell someone else? He is basically blocking any edits on some topics by misunderstanding concepts of WP (especially STABLE). See here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shaun_the_Sheep:_The_Beast_of_Mossy_Bottom&action=history

(see also talk page)

and see here

Talk:Wildwood (film)#"Stop motion" in lead

He has already shown this behavior here

Talk:Up (film series)#Cohort study?

(see also edit war on article page)

Thanks, even if you deny my request (which is rather bold, I know). ~2026-42943-14 (talk) 11:16, 28 October 2026 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't think I have time -- I am way behind on many on- and off-wiki obligations, and still in catch up mode. If you (or anyone else) ends up in a broader conversation about their behaviour, feel free to ping me to join, but I don't have time to be the one to review their behaviour across multiple pages. I hope it gets sorted out. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:29, 28 October 2026 (UTC)
Of course, I understand. (As said above.) Thanks and greetings. ~2026-42943-14 (talk) 11:33, 28 October 2026 (UTC)

Promotion of History of UK science fiction and fantasy magazines to 1965

Congratulations, Mike Christie! The article you nominated, History of UK science fiction and fantasy magazines to 1965, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main Page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Generalissima (talk) via FACBot (talk) 23:06, 29 October 2026 (UTC)

FA lauds and a note for you

I always thought that you would bring Thurber's article to FAC first, but this was a pleasant surprise. Congratulations on yet another FA, and I hope that it won't be long before we have you back at FAC. I'll make it a point to give the article a read.
