ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:45, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Two Girls Reading when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Anonymous paintings

A tag has been placed on Category:Anonymous paintings indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 20:43, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

Anonymous paintings

Hello Surajr7,

I have just left a question on the Talk page for the Anonymous paintings category. Then I read that not many people look at Category Talk pages. You seem to be a good person to ask, so could you see if you can answer the question, please?

Thank you and best wishes, Frans Fowler (talk) 03:57, 7 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi @Surajr7, hope you have had a good weekend! I am a COI editor working on updating this page and noticed you recently edited the article.

Would you be interested in reviewing the request on the talk page? Thanks in advance. Amolier (talk) 11:32, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Non-free images

Hi, I have just come across several non-free images you uploaded a week ago that were above 100,000 pixels (per WP:IMAGERES). You can see the amount of pixels under the main image either in green if good or red if over 100,000. If you are not able to reduce the files yourself before uploading tag with {{Non-free reduce}} at the top for the bot to reduce. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 10:22, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

Hi, the images I uploaded seem to be ~102,000 to ~103,000 pixels in size. Is a difference of a couple pixels in height and width of the image really the difference between an acceptable and unacceptable non-free image? Especially because WP:IMAGERES say that there is no firm guideline on allowable resolution and that "no more than about 100,000 pixels" is sufficient for most uses. I will only upload images that are exactly 100,000 pixels or less in the future, but I don't really believe that resizing the existing images by a matter of a couple of pixels in dimension is necessary. Thanks Surajr7 (talk) 18:57, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
As you say the wording is not must and just a guideline, however I've noticed a trend recently for some people to always be over: some by a few hundred over, now I'm seeing more a few thousand over. Although the wording gives flexibility, it is generally accepted to keep to 100,000 without a justification given, hence why the software show a red error if over. I still don't see it as a big issue with the odd image, but when I saw a run of these I thought I would just point out 100,000 is the preferred option. Removed from rock and roll

Hi, I removed Kid Rock from a list of rock and roll artists, as all of the artists are from the 1950s and 1960s, and are rock and roll artists. Whereas Kid Rock is from the 90s and his name is rock. ~2026-28823-70 (talk) 21:02, 15 May 2026 (UTC)

I restored your edit. I had reverted it because there were three sources for the entry, but I agree he is out of place on the list Surajr7 (talk) 21:07, 15 May 2026 (UTC)
