Done - Hi @Suro1234, thank you for the information. I've added the entry. I really appreciate the help. — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 13:30, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
List of US military aircraft engines
I'm not sure who I should ask about this but would it be possible to create a list of aircraft engines used by the US military including piston, turboprop, turboshaft, turbojet, turbofan, and future types XA-(100-103), etc Suro1234 (talk) 07:22, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Suro1234... I don't know why it wouldn't be possible. Personally, I don't know enough about the topic to begin something like that myself. But, I'm sure it could be very useful on Wikipedia. Are you asking me to create it, or are you asking for help in creating it yourself? — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 15:02, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- I dont edit on wikipedia much so I am not sure how to start, it'd be great if you could help me out Suro1234 (talk) 18:38, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- This might just work. I don’t know much about aircraft engines, same as you about editing. First thing to figure out, should we focus on fixed-wing aircraft or should we include rotary-wing? Should we include UAVs of all kinds? Last thing we need to consider is how to organize the list. Probably the biggest concern is that anything we add to the list MUST have significant media coverage that we can cite in the list as a reliable source. Let me know what you think. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 23:01, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
- it would include all of the types you mentioned, they should be categorized by type of engine not type of aircraft it is used on, so turboprop, turboshaft, piston. Would probably only include combustion engines and not electric motors at least until we add all the combustion engines. There should be significant coverage and a lot of these engines already have their own pages so it would just be putting them all on one sorted page if that makes sense Suro1234 (talk) 22:35, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- and similar to the military electronics page it should list what aircraft the engine is/was used on Suro1234 (talk) 22:38, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- United States military aircraft engine designations
- this page has a lot of information about designations but there is no comprehensive list with these engines Suro1234 (talk) 22:40, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- I will start a new page here User:TadgStirkland401/Military aircraft engines, and we can begin editing it together as you learn some tricks along the way. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 22:43, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- Great! Can you get me a list of engines to begin with? You can send them to me via email if you like. Use this link if you like. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 22:40, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- sure Suro1234 (talk) 22:50, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- i just found a template but would it be possible to turn it into a page instead to make it easier to find
- Template:US military gas turbine aeroengines Suro1234 (talk) 22:56, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- What we can do is use it as a kind of starting point to gather information. Also, I can quickly add it to the bottom of our new page and it can be there when we decide to move our list to Draft Space later. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 23:05, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- UH OH... New discovery! The list of aircraft engines already exists and it is very exhaustive. No need for us to work on this any further. Take a look at List of aircraft engines. If you want, it might be good to approach the people editing that page and ask them how you cam help. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 02:28, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Suro1234, based on our latest discussion on your talk page at User talk:Suro1234 § Military aircraft engines, I think we are good to proceed. I just need data at this point. Please put any additional data on the User talk:TadgStirkland401/Military aircraft engines page, and I'll take it from there. Thanks — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 14:55, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Suro1234, since I haven't heard from you since August, you mighta' noticed I removed the page we were working on. Considering you likely had way more knowledge on the topic than I have, it was my expectation (maybe wrongly) that you might want to take the lead putting such a page together. I was willing to help. But, I've got another focus that honestly keeps me way more than just busy (military electronics). If you want to start up that list for military aircraft engines, I'm willing to lend a hand. How would you like to proceed? — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 02:58, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Southern Spear
Thanks for adding this one - just saw the name in the last couple of days myself. What are your thoughts about what's going on the Caribbean? Buckshot06 (talk) 19:38, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- To be honest, I’m not completely upset by it. I do have lots of questions… and there might be better ways to deal with it. Each attack seems to cost way more in ordnance. But if we chased down every potential bad guy by ship, I’m sure other bad guys would skirt through the net. How do you feel? — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 00:45, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- I'm a leftie, so my question is, is this warfare? Or law enforcement? To what extent are American citizens concerned about this seemingly significant blurring of the boundaries? I'm also a little suspicious about how much % of the drug imports these boats represent, surely a tiny fraction. So how much is this just a PR stunt to foster feeling against Venezuela/Maduro, and to avoid the much murkier and more difficult challenges of corruption+cartel money+intimidation that allows drugs through the land border?
- Truly, I am not trying to get people agitated, or get into a political argument. One can easily do so, but there are also enormous issues of (1) war versus law enforcement, and (2) effectiveness and efficiency here. Buckshot06 (talk) 10:58, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Well, as to your first bullet point, since the end of WWII, the US has conducted probably hundreds of "peacetime" military attacks furthering their stated goals at the time. As one example, how many “peacetime” drone attacks were justified during the Obama administration? At least one killed American citizens. (Jeremy Scahill, "Dirty Wars") So, no… None of these current attacks would be considered acts of war anymore than any previous attacks.
- As to your second point, I also have questions about the efficacy of this new operation Why use multimillion dollar systems and ordnance, along with untold personnel resources, to destroy a small fishing boat? I have serious doubts on that front. — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 22:53, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Catching up after a bit of a wikibreak. Thank you for your considered responses. It grieves me to see the United States so politically divided. Buckshot06 (talk) 19:26, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
- I’ve watched the divide grow logarithmically since about 1990. So many causes and reasons that I find it impossible to blame anything specifically. But yes, it’s a disastrous situation here — TadgStirkland401(TadgTalk-Email) 20:59, 29 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi TadgStirkland401. Thank you for your work on List of military electronics of the United States: A–G. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thanks for splitting this page from List of military electronics of the United States; that one was to long and a split was warranted. However, be careful to follow the protocol at WP:SPLIT when you do this; for example, you haven't acknowledged the original page in the first edit summary, and there's no indication on the talk page of the origin of the text. Also note that the article itself doesn't need to discuss Wikipedia policy; that's for the talk page.
