Welcome to Wikipedia, Victor987654321! I'm Mujinga, and I've been assigned as your mentor. All new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.

You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.

If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.

Information icon Hi Victor987654321! I noticed that you've made several edits in order to restore a version of Anti-transgender movement in the United Kingdom. The impulse to repeatedly undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure that you're aware of Wikipedia's edit warring policy. Repeatedly undoing the changes made by other users in a back-and-forth fashion like this is disallowed, even if you feel what you're doing is justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages in order to try to reach a consensus with the other editors involved. If you are unable to come to an agreement at Talk:Anti-transgender movement in the United Kingdom, please use one of the dispute resolution options that are available in order to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of repeatedly reverting other editors' changes can help you avoid getting drawn into edit wars. Thank you. ~Sangdeboeuf (talk) 13:36, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

I understand that you must discuss this with the other editor, and that is what i am doing. Also The person who removed my edit never discussed it with me before doing so and I've had my edits removed without discussion on other articles. So yes I undid the the edit that editer made but only based on what I have observed from what other editors do. I will take more caution in the future but this practice that you are telling me not to do is quite common clearly.
Kind regards Victor987654321 (talk) 15:08, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
Since you are the one who added disputed material to the article, the burden is on you to achieve consensus for inclusion. No one is required to discuss removing such material before reverting your edits. The best practice is to follow the bold, revert, discuss method. ~Sangdeboeuf (talk) 18:15, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
Right, I see. Victor987654321 (talk) 18:20, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
