Resigned: These administrators voluntarily relinquished their adminship (some of these cases, though nominally by user request, are not entirely voluntary). Many of these users requested that their adminship be revoked either because they were no longer active at Wikipedia, because they were chiefly interested in editorial contributions rather than technical administration, or because they wished to focus on other Wikimedia projects. However, some administrators resigned in recognition of the community's dissatisfaction with their activities. Former administrators who resigned their adminship in good standing may be reinstated at the discretion of any bureaucrat after a 24-hour wait period to evaluate the circumstances in which they were desysopped. Administrators who resigned under controversial circumstances must reapply for adminship by the usual means. Unless otherwise specified by the Arbitration Committee, the determination of whether "controversial circumstances" existed is left to the discretion of the bureaucrats.

These former administrators are still active by definition of long-term inactivity (they have not gone without an edit or logged action for two consecutive years or an administrative action for five consecutive years).

Long-term inactive

These former administrators are, by definition, considered long-term inactive (they have gone without an edit or logged action for two consecutive years, or have made no admin actions for five years). The latter cases are marked as such when that is the only reason recorded for their long-term inactivity and in such cases where their last action is after Special:Permalink/1257760798#RFC: Resysoppings after five years with no administrative actions November 17, 2019 (just over five years after the 5-year rule began applying to admin resignations), the column for the time of the last edit/log will refer to the last administrative action. The times of the last edit/log action are not guaranteed to be up-to-date.
