Não parece inviável considerar a forma Cusi uma variante do teónimo indígena Cosus documentado, sob diversas grafias (em dativo): Cusu, Cossue, Cosu… Abunda a bibliografia sobre esta divindade, númen protector que assumiu epítetos conforme o lugar ou o povo de que foi patrono.
