Suspected sockpuppets

As advised I’ll try to be as concise as possible. I have solid evidence that a blocked editor by the name Wmbata likely has a sock by the name of Ifybekee on Wikimedia commons, and is likely directing people to create meatpuppet accounts for campaigns related to Nigerian Wikipedia topics.

Editor Wmbata was blocked late last year, they had a sock by the name of "Ifeomak". This year on 22 March an SPI was created due to strange group-oriented comments noticed by some editors around several nigerian (igbo) related topics. An editor on wikimedia commons called Ifybekee revealed themselves to be an influencer on X who now goes by the name of "Ifeoma Igbotic". This individual on 22 March told her followers (in igbo language) to go on wiki and change things to suit their wishes, the date suggests this triggered the aforementioned SPI above. One of these wishes was a campaign to change what people see as a Yoruba “Gele” to be seen as an Igbo “Ichafu”. Coincidentally on the 21 march when the Ichafu article was created, the Gele article was also vandalised. Ifybekee (Ifeoma Igbotic) has been uploading images of themselves onto wikimedia labeled “ichafu”, the images have been used by several new accounts.

  • Wmbata (Ifeomak) and Ifybekee (Ifeoma Igbotic) are very likely the same person, they uploaded a duplicate set of images to wikimedia on the same date (5 June) Though Wmbata is blocked on Wikipedia, their wikimedia account(s) is active.
  • Esther Kings is a related account blocked for using a sock, they uploaded an image to wikimedia from an old book, they captioned it "documenting the Ichafu as a foundational indigenous head wrap" despite the original source never even mentioning ichafu. This image was part of their contribution to the deleted ichafu article.
  • Dreune is a new account that uses images uploaded both by Ifybekee (Ifeoma Igbotic) and the image uploaded by Esther Kings for the Ichafu segment of their article full of notaility bombs. Dreune is also working in tandem with Wmbata (Ifeomak) pasting the same article onto wikiversity. They are also canvassing on the talk page of numerous Igbo editors specifically, presumably to get a favourable outcome in what seems like an inconclusive disagreement with another editor "dolphina".
  • Deetailz is an account created on the same date Ifybekee (Ifeoma Igbotic) told her followers to go on wikipedia and make edits (22 March, see above). They have also made several notability bomb segments on the Ichafu and like Ifeoma Igbotic, has uploaded recent images of the "Ichafu" to wikimedia.
  • Kryatus is also a newer account that made several notaility bomb segments on the ichafu using an image they uploaded . Even after being cautioned about violating the manual of style for two articles, they reverted the removals of other editors to keep their segment .

I don't believe this to be the full scope of 'Ifeoma Igbotic's activity given their follower count, and the nature of elucidating the activity of a swarm of accounts with the same motive can make it seem like an unwarranted fixation, but I believe the evidence above shows strong evidence of sockpuppetry (Wmbata, Ifeomak, Ifybekee (ifeoma igbotic)) and meatpuppetry from the suspected users.   • CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk – The off-wiki canvassing by Wmbata/Ifybekee/Ifeomak (using an X account they disclosed as being theirs on Commons) does seem to be a likely explanation for the disruption at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ichafu (headdress) and related pages, as well as the previous SPI at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dangermanmeetz/Archive#22 March 2026. Deetailz was checked at that previous SPI, so it seems that they are probably someone who was canvassed to the discussion from Twitter. The Dreune account could be either a sock of Wmbata/Ifybekee/Ifeomak or another meatpuppet — it was created at around the same time Wmbata had an unblock request declined, has added images uploaded by Ifybekee, and overlaps with Wmbata on Wikiversity . Requesting CU to see whether there is any technical connection between Dreune or Kraytus and any other accounts, to determine whether there is further sockpuppetry occurring here or whether this should be handled as a case of meatpuppetry/canvassing.
