About the drive

The Article Improvement Drive is a backlog reduction drive, which will run from 00:01 UTC on 1 November through to 23:59 UTC on 30 November 2025. The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project; however, only work on articles whose talk pages are tagged with with WikiProject Military History banner will be considered eligible. This year the drive is focused on eliminating four specific backlogs:

Points will also be awarded for improving articles to B-class, to further our long-term goal of having 15% of all articles at or above this level, and carrying out assessments of articles listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Requests.

The drive coincides with Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/November 2025 and editors may wish to participate in both drives. Articles removed from the unsourced categories can be entered into both drives. To enter articles into the other drive include #NOV25 in the edit summary (once per article); there must not be any immediately preceding characters before the hashtag.

Articles entered for any category on this drive should be logged in a numbered list under your username at Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/November 2025 Article Improvement Drive/Worklists.

Scoring

You will receive points for each article/page you work on, based on the schedule listed below.

Aspect Points
Add at least one source to an article categorised as having no sources and remove it from that category by removing {{Unreferenced}} or {{BLP unsourced}} or add a source to one of the untagged articles citing no sources. If parts remain uncited tag them with {{cn}} or the article with {{More citations needed}}. 2 points
Assess an article listed at WP:MHAR against the B-class criteria 3 points
Improve an article listed as needing attention only to structure, attention only to grammar or attention only to supporting materials to B-class (assessment must be made by another editor at WP:MHAR) 10 points
Improve an article that previously had no citations to B-class (assessment must be made by another editor at WP:MHAR) 50 points
Improve any other article to B-class (assessment must be made by another editor at WP:MHAR) 20 points
Remove an article from one of the backlog categories by any other reason, eg. it is miscategorised, you merge it into another article or nominate it for deletion 1 point

Awards

As a token of our appreciation for your efforts, the coordinators will be presenting service awards and barnstars based on the number of articles or pages you improve. The awards will not be cumulative, though, rather each participant will qualify for a single award based on the total number of points they accumulate.

Those who participate but achieve fewer than 20 points will receive WikiThanks

To add a bit of friendly competition, the three editors who earn the most points by the end of the drive will be awarded bronze, silver and gold wikis. These will be in addition to the barnstars above.

The coordinators will post awards to your talk page within a few days of the end of the drive once entries have been checked and scores tallied.
