Sanjna Srikanth (born 27 April 1996) is a contemporary young artist, diagnosed with Autism, known for her expressive use of color and abstract forms. Her work often reflects rhythm, emotion, and a unique sense of visual balance. Sanjna's paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in major art venues across India, including the Lalit Kala Akademi, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Kala Academy and Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.
She was chosen as a Paralympic torchbearer at the 2016 Rio Games and received the Diana Award in 2014 for community impact and inspirational teenager.
Early life and education
Sanjna Srikanth was born in Boston, United States, and displayed an early interest in colors and drawing. She later moved to Bangalore, India, where she trained under artists such as Mr. Doddamani, Mr. Francis, Ms. Malamma Patil, and Mr. Vinod Shahapure. She completed her high school education at The Learning Community International, Maryland and Bangalore International School in 2015. In 2023, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Shri Krishna University, Madhya Pradesh.
Career
Sanjna works across a variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal, dry pastel, ink, and acrylic. Her intuitive compositions are marked by bold lines and dynamic color palettes. Her art often explores themes of nature, femininity, and abstract expressions.[1]
Solo exhibitions
- May 2012: Solo show at Prestige Ozone, Bangalore – included Three Hunters in a Forest and The Queen.
- December 2014: Xpressions at Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai – featured Floating Women and Devi.
- March 2016: Rhapsody of Colors at Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore – unveiled Indian Lady Amongst Flowers and the Rio Olympic Canvas.
- December 2017: Sculpture show at Kala Academy, Goa – with interpretations by sculptor Vinod Shahapure.
- February 2025: Waves of Wonder at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath – exhibited A Boat, The Maze and Ocean Waves.
Group exhibitions
- Art Marathon (2017): Participated in an official art marathon at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. [3]
- Art Bengaluru (2019): Featured as an "Emerging Artist" at UB City, Bangalore, among 21 artists from around the world.
Publications
In 2022, Srikanth published a coloring book titled Stress Relieving Designs, available through the Book Worm shop, Bangalore and on Amazon.
Awards and recognition
- 2016: Selected as a Paralympic torchbearer for the Rio Olympics; exhibited at Casa Cisco during the Games.[4]
- 2016: Awarded the Barbara Nichols Klein Scholarship from TLCI for excellence in visual arts.

Sanjna resides in Bangalore, India, with her family where she continues to create and exhibit her artwork.
