Question

Hello, first of all, I would like to thank you for your help with multiple disruptive editors this morning. Second, I did want to inquire -- why did you block here before the editor could make a policy-compliant attempt at a draft in userspace? I understand that there were myriads of BLP violations in their editing history (and I am now kicking myself for now redacting the BLP violations on their user talk page that you were fortunate enough to remove), but I do believe that they should have been given one last chance to show that they could edit about this based on what reliable sources say via draftspace. Of course, I am not about to go to bat much further than that, since the content of the edits was disruptive, but I did want to ask what you think about all this. Thank you for your assistance. JeffSpaceman (talk) 15:12, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

The user is pretty clearly trolling, based on the comments on their talk page (some of which I have had to suppress). GorillaWarfare (she/her  talk) 15:14, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm not sure I would say the trolling was clear to me -- see my discussion further up on their talk page, where we did manage to civilly discuss the removal of this material, even though I basically gave up since for all I knew, this content could have been verifiable (though I do feel a bit stupid now for walking away from it, given the serious BLP problems). In the end, though, I guess I am glad that you have managed to take care of the issue. Thank you for your administrative help elsewhere too, it's greatly appreciated. JeffSpaceman (talk) 15:19, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
I have responded via email. GorillaWarfare (she/her  talk) 15:28, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Signpost interview

Hello I am currently working on a new piece for the en:WP:Signpost and I would greatly appreciate if you would participate in this interview. Czarking0 (talk) 21:52, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

@Czarking0: Sorry for the delay on this! Has your deadline passed, and if not, are you intending for me to reply at User talk:Czarking0/实验 or somewhere else? GorillaWarfare (she/her  talk) 14:39, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
It has not. Thanks for your interest. Yes please reply on that user talk page. I am still doing exploratory interviews so there is no deadline pressure. Czarking0 (talk) 15:11, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

Request regarding the protection of Talk:Gamergate

Hello. I noticed in the protection logs that you carried over the protection settings for Talk:Gamergate during the page move last year. I am an unregistered user, and I have a policy-based structural critique regarding the main article's prose [specifically concerning WP:TONE, WP:QUOTEFARM, and WP:COATRACK] that I would like to submit to the community for discussion. I want to be clear that I am not looking to dispute the reliable sources, the FAQ, or the established consensus regarding the topic. I solely want to suggest a copyedit to make the article read more like a clinical encyclopedia entry and less like a persuasive essay. Because the Talk page is also protected, I am completely barred from initiating this WP:BRD (Bold, Revert, Discuss) conversation. Could the talk page protection be temporarily reduced so I can post this constructive feedback? Alternatively, if the protection level is strictly mandated by Arbitration Committee / Contentious Topic sanctions and cannot be lowered, would you be willing to post my draft to the Talk page on my behalf so the community can review it? Thank you for your time and your work on the project. ~2026-22957-49 (talk) 19:13, 13 April 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Destubathon of the Americas

You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:00, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
  • The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
  • Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
  • Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
  • The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.
