I like stuff.

I work to revert vandalism and also on NFL and sometimes other sports related topics. Recently, I have been helping to fix typos and other small mistakes.

RFC proposals

Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)

This RfC asks whether the criteria for autoconfirmed and extended confirmed should be modified. Implementation of any consensus will be done by making a request at m:Requesting wiki configuration changes. There are four principal subsections, each with their own question, survey and discussion sub-subsections:

This discussion follows various other recent discussions on possible changes, including at AN and VPI. 02:44, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

RFC policy and guidlines

Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names)

I would like to propose a clarification to WP:USPLACE regarding when US municipalities may use the unqualified title (without state disambiguation).

The guideline states that U.S. place articles are typically titled "Placename, State," but the exceptions to this rule are not clear. All standalone US municipalities are according to the AP Stylebook, but there are a few exceptions.

This RfC asks whether WP:USPLACE should be clarified to explicitly allow the unqualified title when a municipality is the primary topic for its name and no other similarly prominent topic exists.

Some examples of this would be:

- "Virginia Beach, Virginia" -> "Virginia Beach" - "Oconomowoc, Wisconsin" -> "Oconomowoc" - Ambiguous names (e.g. "Springfield") would remain disambiguated.

This is intended to align WP:USPLACE more explicitly with WP:CONCISE and WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.

Feedback is welcome on whether this clarification is appropriate and how it should be worded.

MediaWiki talk:Createacct-username-help

Howdy hello folks. After yet another incident where someone's username had to be oversighted and their account abandoned because they signed up with their real name, we need to revisit the wording of this string.

I propose that we add the following sentence after the existing text: Avoid using your real name. (Why?), which would thus render the whole line as Your username is public and cannot be made private later. Avoid using your real name. (Why?). The link is to WP:REALNAME.

Credit to Asilvering for helping workshop the language. I would ask that folks not propose alternatives so that it is easy to assess consensus. Many variations have been workshopped in the past, such as 1, 2, 3, 4, so lets keep the comments here to support/oppose. 19:28, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Non-free content

There have been articles about and whose titles are based on primarily death-related events, only ones that low-profile victims have been notable for, e.g. "Murder / Killing / Death / Shooting / Suicide of [a deceased low-profile/BIO1E victim]" articles. Also, such victims have been subject to WP:BIO1E/WP:BDP1E, both redirects to WP:NBIO. (Even recently deceased ones have been subject to WP:BDP, a redirect to notorious WP:BLP policy.) Before their own deaths, victims were photographed when those individuals were alive. Such photos have been used in such death-related articles whose titles also use the victims' names, i.e. "X of Y" (X = death-related; Y = victim's name).

Have usages of non-free pre-event/pre-death photos in such death-related articles been generally acceptable or unacceptable, and are such uses still acceptable or unacceptable? --George Ho (talk) 19:07, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
