Ways to improve Ben Hornok
Hello, Masohpotato,
Thank you for creating Ben Hornok.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Hello there, I am a new page reviewer. I do not think the person meets the criteria for WP:NPOL. You are also adding bare URLs Please follow the guidelines in WP:CS. The article may be deleted if you cannot show that the person is notable. You may want to check for relevant news articles] about Ben Hornok.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Lightburst}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.
Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
Lightburst (talk) 00:20, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
- I am confused as to what you mean. Wp:NPOL states "Politicians and judges who have held international, national, or (for countries with federal or similar systems of government) state/province–wide office, or have been members of legislative bodies at those levels." [are notable]. Hornok is a member of the Wyoming House of Representatives (a legislative body at the statewide level), and thus is notable. I have removed the notability issue tag from the article. Why did you remove the picture? KingTheD (talk) 03:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- The state of Oregon copyrights its pictures. Same with New York. You cannot upload pictures taken by them, as that goes against Wikipedia's policies. Masohpotato (talk) 03:25, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Well then at least say that in the edit description. It's not that complicated. KingTheD (talk) 03:30, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Just as you can use the picture of a member of the U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives published by the government, you can use the picture of a member of state government published by the state government. KingTheD (talk) 03:32, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- First, I put a message on your commons talk page, because that is where this was happening. I don't think the edit description matters too much. As for your second message, I'm not really sure what you mean. See https://oregon.gov/ODOT/about/documents/ODOT-Library-Copyright.pdf for more on copyright law. It does not matter that it was state government that took the picture, it is still not allowed. Masohpotato (talk) 21:54, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

At Mike Kirkland (politician), you wrote that his residence is Scottsboro, Alabama, citing this source. However, his bio there only lists Scottsboro as his district office, not his residence. Do you have a source to support that he lives there? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:30, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes this news article says he is a member of a church in the city. http://jcsentinel.com/feature_story/article_9f9cd1b6-05ac-11ec-8bc0-07de15f74250.html Masohpotato (talk) 23:50, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Andrei Murariu moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to Andrei Murariu. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:52, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
Jessica Fay moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Jessica Fay, is not suitable as written to remain published. Right now the person does not appear to pass WP:NPOL. we needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. January 2024
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Jessica Fay. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Speedy deletion nomination of List of years in Oregon

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of years in Oregon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. List of years in Oregon moved to draftspace
Thanks for your contributions to List of years in Oregon. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because per WP:CSC, "lists devoted to a large number of redlinked (unwritten) articles [...] don't belong in the main namespace". I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:39, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Kathryn Shaw (disambiguation)

The article Kathryn Shaw (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Invalid and unnecessary disambiguation page containing the primary topic and only one other topic.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deletion discussion about Progress Ridge Town Square
Hello Masohpotato, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Progress Ridge Town Square, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Progress Ridge Town Square.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, Masohpotato. I noticed that your recent edit to Hirvi added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Non-free rationale for File:Henrique Abranches.pdf

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Henrique Abranches.pdf. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:James E. Akins.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Gombe State House of Assembly into Sokoto State House of Assembly. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 03:27, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Clinton Bailey.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Clinton Bailey.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:58, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Ways to improve Steve March
Hello, Masohpotato,
Thank you for creating Steve March.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Certain claims like his role at Portland State University and as. the founder of Smarsh don't seem to have a supporting citation. This is also true for his role as a member of the House of Representatives and other facts in the infobox such as his political party and alma mata. But a great start! :)
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|MolecularPilot}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.
Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
MolecularPilotTalk 11:10, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- I see now that the infobox content (except for his role in the Democratic Party which I have now marked as {{cn}}) is referenced to Votesmart, which is considered reliable per a discussion at RSN. I apologise, as initially the Votesmart page did not load the full info for me. The things I've added cn to in the body are still unreferenced I think, as Votesmart only claims he is a "Professor, Institute on Aging at Portland State University" not a "budgetary and accounting officer" and doesn't mention Smarsh (and none of the other sources seem to either). This is so okay however as we're all still learning, and thank you for the effort you have put into creating this article - we do need more coverage and Oregan topics! :) MolecularPilotTalk 11:23, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

Drosera villosa
Hi Masohpotato, earlier you reinstated this image to Drosera villosa. I had previously removed it because the filename and metadata state that it shows Drosera ascendens, which although formerly considered a variety of D. villosa, is now accepted as a separate species e.g. by POWO (). I am currently working (slowly) on updates to taxonomy and species articles for Drosera so I'll be looking for free images to illustrate all the species - but I've been trying to remove any that don't definitely illustrate the correct taxon. Would you object to me removing this image again and placing it on the D. ascendens page instead? YFB ¿ 18:26, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about List of Lists of Saudi Arabians
Hello Masohpotato, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, List of Lists of Saudi Arabians, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Lists of Saudi Arabians.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheLongTone}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

- First of all, the page itself is not notable. For some reason, you keep removing the templates on a page you created and that has not demonstrated independent notability from the government of Mexico. The link you provided goes to an archive, and that archive has an error and it only can be accessed until Cameroon. Wikipedia articles are not dependent on which position Carlos Eugenio García de Alba Zepeda currently helds (or helded). If he is notable, which he seems to be since he has been ambassor since 1987, then he needs a page instead, but moving the page to the position where the ambassor is located is not the norm. Deletion discussion about Joseph K. Wood
Hello Masohpotato, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Joseph K. Wood, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Joseph K. Wood.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Vanderwaalforces}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Edits for Daniel Grossberg
I wanted to reach out and clarify some edits I made recently that were reverted. It was marked as being a biased rewrite for sharing information about what Legislative Interests a candidate had that were listed on their website. Does sharing this mark the article as biased and was the other information unsatisfactory or just the singular section? I am still learning my way around the site and just wanted to confirm, thanks! Hi Masohpotato, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! Chetsford (talk) 16:38, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kouprasith Abhay.png

A tag has been placed on File:Kouprasith Abhay.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.
