Dude, in the article about Bangladesh, some dude added awards and honors section. Can I or you delete it? Because, Im pretty sure such sections are considered WP:puffery Codonified (talk) 19:03, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- I personally don't think it is complete puffery but it doesn't belong in its own section with over 150 words. I reverted the edit with a reasonable explanation in the edit summary. Thank you for pointing it out!

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

WP:BLPPRIMARY and Uthman Ibn Farooq Yusufzai
I am writing regarding your recent two edits to Uthman Ibn Farooq Yusufzai. The edit restired contentious content regarding a living person (i.e. allegations of domestic abuse) that was sourced solely to a court filing.
WP:BLPPRIMARY calls upon users to not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person
. There are some narrow exceptions (when primary-source material has been discussed by a reliable secondary source, it may be acceptable to rely on it to augment the secondary source
), but the edit you restored appears to solely rely upon primary sources. Domestic abuse allegations, generally, are of an extremely serious and grave nature and require substantial independent secondary sourcing whenever including them in an article—if we choose to do so at all.
Please be careful when evaluating this sort of material going forward.
— Red-tailed hawk (nest) 21:58, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Hawk, thank you for explaining the concerns about my recent edits. I understand now that including allegations based solely on court filings, violates WP:BLPPRIMARY, especially for serious claims like domestic abuse. I appreciate you pointing this out, and I’ll ensure that going forward my future contributions fully comply with WP policies.

Renaming required
Hi nyxion, There is a article called Types of fish in Uganda, the thing is every article that lists fishes of any country is named as "List of fishes of... " For example:
List of fishes of Great Britain
Etcetra, therefore shouldn’t the article Types of fish in Uganda be renamed to "List of fishes of Uganda"? Codonified (talk) 04:47, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- To be fair, the “List of fishes of...” articles do seem to simply list the different type of fishes (in an organised list) with little other information, whereas the Types of fish in Uganda article goes more in depth into the different, well, types of fishes. I think this is possibly something you can mention on the article's talkpage and see if others may agree on moving it to a new name with a redirect or possibly creating a redirect from List of fishes of Uganda to Types of fish in Uganda for the time being. I wouldn't simply change the name though, as good arguments can be made as to why it shouldn't simply be called the same as the others but perhaps the second option (of creating a redirect) may be a good compromise.

- BTW Happy new year😀 Codonified (talk) 11:06, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- After thinking about it for a while, you know, given that no article named "List of fishes of Uganda" exists. I think it would be a good idea to atleast make a redirect for that as you said it would be a reasonably good compromise for the time being. Codonified (talk) 13:05, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Conflict of interest?
Hello, Nyxion303. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Hipal (talk) 18:35, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Hipal, thank you for writing. Would you please be able to specify exactly which contributions that I have made on WP that you believe may be a COI?
- ~~~~ Nyxion303💬 Talk 18:40, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Nyxion. I notified you after running across Zabeel Palace (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). I spend a large amount of time working with editors who have a COI. Generally, I look for promotional editing and WP:SPA behavior. --Hipal (talk) 19:56, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing that out, Hipal, and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention and thank you for all the work that you also do. This conversation of potential COI is one that I have had with an administrator previously (in an unofficial capacity, just to get their POV/opinion). Anything I contribute to WP is done in my own capacity as an individual; I do not get paid for it nor am I asked to do it on behalf of anyone — everything is, as everything should be on WP, voluntary.
- Any information that I add on Wikipedia, I ensure is completely within WP's own guidelines and policies and that everything can be verified using RS, so that no original research needs to be carried out and that it is from a neutral, unbiased POV.
- I am, however, in a very unique position where I can contribute to WP where projects related to the United Arab Emirates are concerned due to my family. It is worth pointing out that I do not hold any official roles personally, however. Once again, I do this on a voluntary basis; I am not paid, nor will I ever been paid, for any of my contributions to WP.
- Please let me know if you need me to further clarify anything.

- You're jumping into Wikipedia editing incredibly fast. Someone's already notified you about WP:AC/CT and WP:BLP, which are very important. I'd add that the choice of references is similarly important: If you're unsure about the reliability of a reference, WP:RSP and WP:RSN are very helpful.
- This may be a non-issue, but it stood out when I was reviewing the article. Have you read through MOS:PEOPLETITLES?
- Good luck and welcome to Wikipedia. --Hipal (talk) 17:27, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestions, Hipal, I always appreciate and welcome all feedback regarding changes I can make as WP is still a learning curve for me. I will review the information you've shared with me and make any changes to my contributions moving forward. Thank you again and a very happy new year to you and your family! :)

Tagging
Thank you for patrolling new pages, but do please keep in mind WP:NPPHOUR, you tagged Tucko MDK 6 minutes after its creation. Sophisticatedevening(talk) 18:27, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you for writing. I do keep in mind WP:NPPHOUR but in this case it was tagged for speedy deletion. For tags other than speedy deletion, I am much more forgiving and do allow editors time to update and/or improve their articles. This article simply wasn't going to do be able to do that and was blatantly not notable and used by the editor to promote himself (username matches).
- I obviously see the other side to this, too, so I am open to changing my approach on this if you still feel like I should have given an article such as this one an hour before tagging it for speedy deletion, knowing the facts now?
- As always, I welcome any kind of feedback! Thank you again :) Nyxion303💬 Talk 18:38, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- Only certain speedy deletion criteria can be used for the "serious content issues" exception, not just speedy criteria altogether (G1-G3, G12 and G10). The sections at WP:NPPHOUR details why. You tagged for A7, which is fine but you should definitely wait longer than 6 minutes after its creation before doing so. Sophisticatedevening(talk) 20:48, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

January–February 2026 NPP drive - Phase 2

Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! Completing 22,502 patrols in the first phase made a significant dent in the backlog. Let's keep our foot on the gas for Phase 2, and I hope we can achieve even more reviews than Phase 1. - Dsrprj (talk) 16:20, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Like I have said, the page will be reviewed in due course. New Page Reviewers don't review pages based off of individual requests. There is no additional benefit of having your page be reviewed, other than it appearing on search engine indexes before the 90 day period. When/if you article has been on the mainspace for 90 days, it will appear on the indexes regardless of whether it is reviewed or not.

Page Review of Denodo
Hi @Nyxion303, I hope you are well. I see that you reviewed my article Denodo, which has recently been nominated for deletion by another editor. Do you agree with this nomination? I would appreciate any feedback here on how to improve the article where possible to avoid deletion, as I believe that the company is strong enough to be on Wikipedia, and I am trying to avoid it being deleted. Are you able to vote in the deletion discussion if you agree with it staying? Thanks so much! Van1985 (talk) 06:29, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, Van. Hope you're well.
- Please understand that an article being marked as reviewed/patrolled by a New Page Reviewer is not an endorsement that the article necessarily meets the high standards to remain as an article in the mainspace of Wikipedia. Our role as a New Page Reviewer, in my experience, has been more so to act as one of the first steps to stopping bad articles getting through the cracks. Sometimes, this means by way of adding maintenance tags to articles or following a different process.
- In the case of the article you authored (Denodo), the article was nominated by a different editor at AfD. In cases where articles are going through the AfD process, New Page Reviewers automatically mark these as reviewed. The AfD process will decide whether or not the article remains and by the very nature of that process means a 'review' will be conducted by editors who vote on its future hence why we mark these as reviewed/patrolled and let the AfD process take its course.
- In a nutshell, any New Page Reviewer who marks any article as reviewed/patrolled is not necessarily saying that the article meets the very high threshold articles must meet in order to remain in the mainspace. It simply means that a review was conducted and it did not yield any major issues that must be addressed at once (e.g, a copyright violation, blatant promotional content, attack pages, and so on) that cannot be fixed by way of maintenance tags. We do conduct basic notability checks, however, may still mark the page as reviewed after adding appropriate maintenance tags that address the notability issues within the article. Where articles are already going through an AfD process, these are also marked as reviewed as that process is much more rigorous and in a way does the same job of a New Page Reviewer (only better).
- Having an article go through the AfD process and the New Page Reviewer would only duplicate the work and that is why I marked the article as reviewed. I hope this explains it. I wish you the best. Nyxion303💬 Talk 17:52, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from AprilIreneDonelson on Haute Living (19:35, 17 March 2026)
I need to edit the information in this box --AprilIreneDonelson (talk) 19:35, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @AprilIreneDonelson, thank you for choosing to contribute to Wikipedia. I assume you are referring to the 'box' on the right-hand side on the Haute Living article, where there is also an image of the subject.
- Editing an article, or the 'box' (which we call an infobox on Wikipedia), is really quite simple. When you open any article page, you are usually in "Read" mode. In order to edit, you'll need to switch to "Edit" mode. The button's location varies depending on the device you are on but once you are in the edit mode, clicking on the infobox/box will allow you to edit its information.
- I encourage you to try doing a few tests in your sandbox so that you get the hang of it. Here are a few helpful articles to read that will give you a more in-depth understanding also:
- Help:Infobox
- Help:Infobox/picture
- Help:Your first article (which has a lot of other useful information)

Question from Petrprochxzka (09:31, 19 March 2026)
Hello, thank you for being my mentor. I would like to create a translation of a page into czech language, because on that topic there is not much information in my language. Specifically I have in mind the page about new classical architecture.
How should I do it the right way?
Thank you, Peter from czechia, student of architecture --Petrprochxzka (talk) 09:31, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @Petrprochxzka, welcome to Wikipedia and a massive thank you for wanting to contribute by expanding the Czech Wikipedia with your knowledge. I appreciate it! As far as your question on how to get started by translating the English version into Czech, Wikipedia actually has a tool built especially for this very purpose you'll be glad to know, which simplifies the entire process.
- There is a guide to read (Wikipedia:Translate us) that explains everything and on how to get started. I would highly recommend you use the content translation tool which would further assist you as you translate English Wikipedia articles into other Czech. I hope together with the guide and the tool, it makes your life easier as you translate the pages into the Czech language and if you have any other questions or need further guidance -- you know where to find me! Nyxion303💬 Talk 17:22, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Nyxion303,
- I really appreciate your thorough reply, but I am stuck a little. When I translated my first section, a warning popped up, that I am not experienced enough to publish my translations. Upon further reading I discovered a requirement of 500 edits for new users. Is this information correct? As of now I am drafting the whole translation into my sandbox.
- Looking forward to your reply,
- Peter Petrprochxzka (talk) 07:06, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- You're very welcome, Peter. I'm glad to see that you've already started on the process to translate. The requirement you refer to (500 minimum edits) is so that your account can have the Extended Confirmed permission rights. This is a requirement if you want to use the content translation tool (which I recommend using to make the entire process easier once you meet the requirements).
- However, you do not have to wait to get the Extended Confirmed permission (which is automatically given once your account is at least 30 days old and has a minimum of 500 edits). In the meantime, you can manually translate the pages (as I think you are currently doing) which does not require you to have the Extended Confirmed rights. I hope this answers your question, let me know if you'd like to know anything else,

Question from Adc2e0 (06:18, 27 March 2026)
Hello!
I would like to ask, how do citations work? I’ve figured out the button to add them but is there any guide I should be following on what is reliable for Wikipedia?
Additionally I’d like to know how to add those “by whom?” indicators and such that indicate a source / changes are needed. Apologies if I am misremembering or wording this strangely.
Thank you! Have a wonderful day. --adc2e0 (they/it) (talk) 06:18, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, I hope you're well. Very good questions. Regarding reliable sources, I would recommend reading the following two pages:
- As for your other question regarding the "by whom?" indicators, they are added using a template. In this case, by adding this template: Template:By whom (that page explains how to add it, which would result in the indicator). There are also several other useful templates, such as Template:Citation needed which you might also find useful (following that results in a indicator). Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for contributing! Nyxion303💬 Talk 09:05, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted

Hi Nyxion303, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 17:57, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

Bunch of AI-generated articles at AfD
Hi! I nominated a whole pile of AI-generated articles for deletion today, and I noticed you reviewed several of them - if you want to read/participate in the discussion, it's here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Traditionsschifferschein. Have a great day! Lijil (talk) 16:46, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, you already voted! Silly me, should have checked!! :) Lijil (talk) 16:48, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- All good, thank you for letting me know anyway and great catch btw on the articles! Also, as a side note (and in case you didn't know), since you use Twinkle you can enable within the settings to automatically mark the articles you nominate for AfD as reviewed.
- The AfD tag has a no-index tag built within it (preventing the article from being indexed on search engines) and the AfD process itself is more rigorous than the new page reviewer process in any event, so it is standard practice to mark AfD articles as reviewed (after a quick copyvio check). Just letting you know in case you didn't know since you're a fellow reviewer yourself but have a great day,

- Oh thanks! I wasn't sure about marking articles reviewed that I've also sent to AfD, but if AfD has a no-index tag then it's good to get them out of the review queue, so thank's for that! I've been a reviewer for a few months but still feel like I'm learning new stuff every day :) Lijil (talk) 20:32, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

- As for pictures, do you mean uploading your own pictures to Wikipedia or using ones that already exist? Nyxion303💬 Talk 18:54, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

- There are very strict copyright rules that are rigorously applied when it comes to uploading images on to Wikipedia. Uploading images straight from Google is very unlikely to meet the copyright requirements. Question from SaESSI10 GOAT (04:58, 22 April 2026)
I’ve been studying various aspects of Sanātana Dharma and its historical narratives, and I’ve noticed something that concerns me. When I look at certain Wikipedia pages — for example, the page on Adam’s Bridge — the presentation often seems to lean toward dismissing or minimizing traditional Hindu accounts, even when those accounts are deeply rooted in scripture, cultural memory, and long-standing scholarly discussion.
My question is not about promoting one religion over another, but about why Wikipedia often appears hesitant to acknowledge that multiple traditions — including Sanātana Dharma and Christianity — may preserve narratives that are meaningful, historically significant, or even potentially supported by emerging research.
For instance:
The structure commonly known as Adam’s Bridge is also widely referred to as Rāma Setu in Indian tradition.
There are archaeological, geological, and textual discussions surrounding this feature that deserve balanced representation.
Yet the page title and framing tend to prioritize one interpretation over another, even though both names are used in academic and cultural contexts.
I’m trying to understand why Wikipedia, which aims to be neutral and community‑driven, often seems reluctant to present these perspectives side‑by‑side with equal seriousness. Is it due to editorial policies, the nature of available sources, or something else?
I would appreciate any insight into how Wikipedia handles culturally significant narratives, and why certain traditional accounts — whether from Hinduism or Christianity — are treated with more skepticism than others. --SaESSI10 GOAT (talk) 04:58, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hey Goat,
- This would not be the right place to ask this sort of question, unfortunately. What I would suggest is writing in the specific article talk page about the changes you feel should be made and to provide your reasonings, sources, and changes which can then be reviewed by other editors to comment on. Hello, I'm new and slowly learning to edit and I realized one of the articles for a French figure had a link to the British "Secretary of State for War", however there is an article for "Secretary of State for War (France)" which better serves the purpose. I just said no to the suggestion of the British link, but; would it be possible or good idea to link it to the French? Maybe it's a silly question, but I beg you to be patient with me, it's a learning process. --Ajperez77 (talk) 21:43, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you for contributing to Wikipedia aaaand no question is a silly question when you're trying to learn!
- As for your question, it really depends. I tried to look at your edit history but wasn't able to find the French figure where you made this change but if the article was talking about Secretary of State for War in the context of France, it would almost certainly be better to do exactly what you did (linking to Secretary of State for War (France) instead of Secretary of State for War of United Kingdom).

Question from Fuffychick (14:51, 6 June 2026)
I think I've submitted a possible article for consideration but I'm not sure. --Fuffychick (talk) 14:51, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, I apologise for the late reply.
- I have seen the article in your sandbox. It does not seem to be properly formatted, with placeholders and inaccurate source citations. I wonder if you've maybe used AI/LLMs to write the article? Nyxion303💬 Talk 12:03, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yes I did because the first time I submitted an article on Jonathan Fletcher I was told it was too subjective (= negative) so this time I asked AI to do it so that it would all be taken from facts in the public domain and much more objective. I thought this better as I have known Jonathan Fletcher personally for many decades so I thought it was better for AI to do it than me. It all seemed pretty accurate. I'm not used to editing on Wikipedia – I've almost never done it before – but I thought it important there should be an entry for this person as he has affected many lives and is very well-known in some circles. I can't really afford to spend much time on it and I'd really rather somebody else did it. ~2026-35620-86 (talk) 12:34, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your honesty and for sharing your experience. Because you know the subject of the article yourself, it would be better for someone else to write the article and submit it for review potentially if it meets notability. I would also suggest you to not edit the article yourself personally, as this would be a conflict of interest.
- I would suggest you make a request for the article if you feel the subject should be included on Wikipedia by going here: Wikipedia:Requested_articles. This would be my recommendation to avoid conflict of interest.
- For future, please also note that AI/LLM on Wikipedia is not allowed, see here for an in-depth explanation: WP:LLM Nyxion303💬 Talk 12:58, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- That's fine: I didn't particularly want to write it myself. I just think it should be there. Please could you tell me what category it should come under? Jonathan Fletcher was (or is) a well-known Church of England Evangelical clergyman who has now been found to have committed numerous sexual and physical offences. ~2026-35620-86 (talk) 13:04, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- You can add it here: Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Biography/By_profession Nyxion303💬 Talk 18:40, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
