No evidence of sufficient in-depth coverage of this college soccer coach to meet WP:GNG. The only piece I found approaching WP:SIGCOV was this story about his hiring, which seems extremely routine. JTtheOG (talk) 05:49, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

I propose merging to Tallapoosa County, Alabama because close to all of the information on here is already on the county page, and the things that are not there can easily be added if needed. NotJamestack (✉️|📝) 16:09, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

WP:INDISCRIMINATE Local elections aren't notable, we certainly don't need this level of detail for one. Obi2canibe (talk) 15:46, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Note: this discussion has been included in the AfD sorting lists for the following topics: Events, Politics, and Alabama. Obi2canibe (talk) 15:46, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep if not notable then draftify, because it will be based on previous examples as election day gets closer. Level of detail on a page is irrelevant considering it is sourced. Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 18:18, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
@Estar8806 could you support a merge to Municipal elections in Auburn, Alabama? It is a more appropriate target if that is consensus Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 00:45, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

Newspaper isn't notable. Only around for two years, and did not establish notability in that time. Aside from links to government databases, this article doesn't have any other sources. Not enough sources found online to establish notability. Eric Schucht (talk) 17:12, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

Merge to List of newspapers in Alabama. Has an entry in the book African-American newspapers and periodicals : a national bibliography which covers all the details needed for that. I found some citations and mentions but little else. PARAKANYAA (talk) 17:44, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
Works for me. I second that and support a merger. Eric Schucht (talk) 18:35, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep it's been expanded since being nominated. There are some existing copies of it. The paper involved some influential people. African American newspapers are important and notable so we should work to obtain images of the paper and more information on it. We have an entry on every Jacksonville Jaguars player in 2026 whether or not they made any significant contribution surely we can include newspapers that published during the brutal and cruel Jim Crow era against all odds and covering people and events we don't include because we claim there is no coverage of them. This paper covered them in Alabama. Well worth knowing what they had to say. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:24, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
Some existing copies of it is not notability and notability is WP:NOTINHERITED. The guideline here is WP:GNG, which this does not pass. PARAKANYAA (talk) 16:09, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Weak keep. Its considered notable enough that it gets a mention in the timeline published in Crosby, Edward W. (1988). Your History: A Chronology of Notable Events in the History of Africans in Africa and the Diaspora: 1600 BCE-1980. Kent State University. p. 202. As noted, has coverage in Danky, James Philip; Hady, Maureen E., eds. (1998). African-American Newspapers and Periodicals: A National Bibliography. Harvard University Press. p. 373. On balance, not seeing a benefit to not having an article given Crosby's choice to highlight the paper as significant in the wider history of African diaspora studies.4meter4 (talk) 18:57, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
What notability guideline does this pass? PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:19, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
SICOV can be determined by content not just by length. In this case we have two quality academic sources pointing to significance even if the coverage is brief. Edward W. Crosby is a notable scholar in his field so his choice to highlight it as a historically important moment in African diaspora history should count towards GNG. The Harvard book is a second GNG qualifying source. These in conjunction with the other materials present in the article are collectively enough to demonstrate a weak pass of GNG in my opinion. Admittedly its borderline, but in cases of historically marginalized groups I think WP:SYSTEMICBIAS should be considered. In a borderline case its best to land on the keep side in a topic area like this. We have enough sources to support a short article, so I don't see the harm in holding on to it. Best.4meter4 (talk) 14:42, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
"SICOV can be determined by content not just by length" no. This article is poor and there are not the sources to make it better. PARAKANYAA (talk) 00:39, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
Agreed! There's just not enough info there to establish an article. I think redirecting to List of newspapers in Alabama makes the most sense. Eric Schucht (talk) 22:33, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Redirect to List of African American newspapers in Alabama, which includes basically all we verifiably know about this paper (it was a weekly, it was published from c. 1898 to 1900). The publisher could be added to the 'remarks' column, but nothing else would really be lost from a redirect, most of the article's two paragraphs are about unrelated stuff.
