Frequently asked questions

How do I write an interesting hook?

Successful hooks tend to have several traits. Most importantly, they share a surprising or intriguing fact. They give readers enough context to understand the hook, but leave enough out to make them want to learn more. They are written for a general audience who has no prior knowledge of or interest in the topic area. Lastly, they are concise, and do not attempt to cover multiple facts or present information about the subject beyond what's needed to understand the hook.

When will my nomination be reviewed?

This page is often backlogged. As long as your submission is still on the page, it will stay there until an editor reviews it. Since editors are encouraged to review the oldest submissions first, it may take several weeks until your submission is reviewed. In the meantime, please consider reviewing another submission (not your own) to help reduce the backlog (see instructions below). Because of WP:DYKTIMEOUT, a nomination should be reviewed within two months since the reviewer/promoter may agree to reject and close an unpromoted hook after that time has passed.

Where is my hook?

If you can't find the nomination you submitted to this nominations page, it may have been approved and is on the approved nominations page waiting to be promoted. It could also have been added to one of the prep areas, promoted from prep to a queue, or is on the main page.

If the nominated hook is in none of those places, then the nomination has probably been rejected. Such a rejection usually only occurs if it was at least a couple of weeks old and had unresolved issues for which any discussion had gone stale. If you think your nomination was unfairly rejected, you can query this on the DYK discussion page or with the closer, but as a general rule such nominations will only be restored in exceptional circumstances. If your nomination was promoted, but it hasn't reached the main page after two weeks, you can also query this on the DYK discussion page.

Instructions for reviewers

Any editor who was not involved in writing/expanding or nominating an article may review it by checking to see that the article meets all the DYK criteria (long enough, new enough, no serious editorial or content issues) and the hook is cited. Editors may also alter the suggested hook to improve it, suggest new hooks, or even lend a hand and make edits to the article to which the hook applies so that the hook is supported and accurate. For more information on the DYK rules and review processes, see the DYK guidelines and the reviewer instructions.

To post a comment or review on a DYK nomination, follow the steps outlined below:

• Look through this page, Template talk:Did you know, to find a nomination you would like to comment on.
• Click the "Review or comment" link at the top of the nomination. You will be taken to the nomination subpage.
• The top of the page includes a list of the DYK criteria. Check the article to ensure it meets all the relevant criteria.
• To indicate the result of the review (i.e., whether the nomination passes, fails, or needs some minor changes), leave a signed comment on the page. Please begin with one of the 5 review symbols that appear at the top of the edit screen, and then indicate all aspects of the article that you have reviewed; your comment should look something like the following:

Article length and age are fine, no copyvio or plagiarism concerns, reliable sources are used. But the hook needs to be shortened.

If you are the first person to comment on the nomination, there will be a line :* <!-- REPLACE THIS LINE TO WRITE FIRST COMMENT, KEEPING  :* --> showing you where you should put the comment.
• Save the page.
• After the nomination is approved, a bot will automatically list the nomination page on Template talk:Did you know/Approved.

If there is any problem or concern about a nomination, please consider notifying the nominator by placing on the nominator's talk page.

Advanced procedures

How to promote an accepted hook

At-a-glance instructions on how to promote an approved hook to a prep area
Check list for nomination review completeness
1. Select a hook from the approved nominations page that has one of these ticks at the bottom post: .
2. Check to make sure basic review requirements were completed.
• Any outstanding issue following needs to be addressed before promoting.
3. Check the article history for any substantive changes since it was nominated or reviewed.
4. Images for the lead slot must be freely licensed. Fair-use images are not permitted. Images loaded on Commons that appear on the Main Page are automatically protected by KrinkleBot.
5. Hook must be stated in both the article and source (which must be cited at the end of the article sentence where stated).
6. Hook should make sense grammatically.
7. Try to vary subject matters within each prep area.
8. Try to select a funny, quirky or otherwise upbeat hook for the last or bottom hook in the set.
Steps to add a hook to prep
• In one tab, open the nomination page of the hook you want to promote.
• In a second tab, open the prep set you intend to add the hook to.

Wanna skip all this fuss? Install WP:PSHAW instead! Does most of the heavy lifting for ya :)

1. For hooks held for specific dates, refer to "Local update times" section on DYK Queue.
• Completed Prep area number sets will be promoted by an administrator to corresponding Queue number.
2. Copy and paste the hook into a chosen slot.
• Make sure there's a space between ... and that, and a ? at the end.
• Check that there's a bold link to the article.
3. If it's the lead (first) hook, paste the image where indicated at the top of the template.
4. Copy and paste ALL the credit information (the DYKmake and DYKnom templates) at the bottom
5. Check your work in the prep's Preview mode.
• At the bottom under "Credits", to the right of each article should have the link "View nom subpage" ; if not, a subpage parameter will need to be added to the DYKmake.
6. Save the Prep page.
Closing the DYK nomination page
1. At the upper left
• Change , at the top or bottom.
4. Save.

For more information, please see T:TDYK#How to promote an accepted hook.

• To Prep 5
• To Prep 6

How to remove a rejected nomination

• Open the DYK nomination subpage of the nomination you would like to remove.
• In the window where the DYK nomination subpage is open, replace the line {{DYKsubpage with {{subst:DYKsubpage, and replace |passed= with |passed=no. Then save the page. This has the effect of wrapping up the discussion on the DYK nomination subpage in a blue archive box and stating that the nomination was unsuccessful, as well as adding the nomination to a category for archival purposes.
• Alternatively, you can use PSHAW, which automates the process.

How to remove a hook from the prep areas or queue

• Edit the prep area or queue where the hook is and remove the hook and the credits associated with it.
• Go to the hook's nomination subpage (there should have been a link to it in the credits section).
• View the edit history for that page
• Go back to the last version before the edit where the hook was promoted, and revert to that version to make the nomination active again.
• Add a new icon on the nomination subpage to cancel the previous tick and leave a comment after it explaining that the hook was removed from the prep area or queue, and why, so that later reviewers are aware of this issue.
• Add a transclusion of the template back to this page so that reviewers can see it. It goes under the date that it was first created/expanded/listed as a GA. You may need to add back the day header for that date if it had been removed from this page.
• If you removed the hook from a queue, it is best to either replace it with another hook from one of the prep areas, or to leave a message at WT:DYK asking someone else to do so.

How to move a nomination subpage to a new name

• Don't; it should not ever be necessary, and will break some links which will later need to be repaired. Even if you change the title of the article, you don't need to move the nomination page.

Barda Qaraman

• Reviewed:
Created by Yescarrot (talk). Number of QPQs required: 0. Nominator has fewer than 5 past nominations.

Yescarrot (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2026 (UTC).

• No QPQ required. Article is new enough and long enough and no copyright violations detected. Hook fact is verified and interesting. However, the article itself has some factual contradictions, fundamental missing content, and I think some misleading structural issues. The lead for example states "the town was renamed Bazinjan", but Bazinjan was in fact the original name of the town when it was founded by the Ba’athist regime of Saddam Hussein according to the cited source. It was therefore not a renaming. This is also stated further down in the body of the article. The contradiction needs to be fixed. In general the article could be much more clear that the town was founded by Hussein and his regime with the name Bazinjan in (give a date).
Structurally the history section starts with the "1919 Battle of Bazyan", but this is not really part of the history of the town which was founded decades later. At best this should go under the etymology section so as not to confuse readers that these events are in fact related to the town's history which they aren't. I would argue that the history has too many subsections, and that the subsection titles misrepresent the history. For a town founded in living memory the whole history falls under the "modern era". There should be two subheadings: "Bazinjan and the Ba’athist regime" and "Barda Qaraman". That's it. It's understandable that the town is trying to co-opt a better past from unrelated history given the town's thorny origins, but we shouldn't be forwarding propaganda of this type as history. That's misrepresentation and white washing. The sources to a certain extent are playing into this whitewashing narrative (by purposefully not saying when the town was founded and under what circumstances), and I think we need to be careful here in evaluating what content is in fact reliable and if the historicity is in fact true. With the sources themselves not giving a straight forward narrative and being opaque that raises red flags as to reliability of the materials being used.
Given the town was founded in the not too distant past (it has to be somewhere between the years 1979 and 2003), the absence of a year of founding is odd. And given that the town was obviously created as a function of oppression of the Kurds, I would imagine there might also be a story of forced relocation to the town at the time it was created. At the moment this seems somewhat incomplete in presentation as to when the town was founded and under what circumstances. A content gap of this type seems to fail WP:DYKCOMPLETE. This might mean trying to locate a better source on the early history of the town. If there is a good faith reason not to believe this content can be sourced please let me know, but I think a year of a town founded in living memory should not be impossible to source.
Get back to me on this, and once these issues are solved, I'll re-review. On a side note an extra set of eyes on this one would be appreciated; particularly in weighing how to fairly evaluate source reliability and how the history of the town should be presented based on the materials. Best.4meter4 (talk) 17:41, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
@Yescarrot: Please respond in comments here rather than in edit summaries. Some good progress has been made through the removal of unrelated history, but the issue still remains that the lead makes a false claim about the "renaming" of the town to Bazinjan. Bazinjan was the original and first name of the town at the time it was founded according to https://www.kurdistan24.net/en/story/387900 . The lead needs to be rewritten to be factually accurate. I've placed tags in the article to reflect that. Also putting in the years of Saddam Hussein's reign in the heading makes it seem like the town was founded in 1973. We don't know that. We only know it was founded sometime during his time in power (1973-2003) which is why we need a source discussing the founding of the town with specific dates. The town could have been founded in 2000 or 1992 or 1974 or whenever in that 30 year window. There's no way of knowing at present with the current materials. This a very basic fundamental fact that needs to be hunted down. I would consider the article insufficiently complete until that information is located.4meter4 (talk) 15:46, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
@4meter4: Yup, this works. Anyways, I have fixed the “renaming” of Bazinjan to “was named”, however, I cannot find the exact date of creation of the town, nor when it was named that derogatory name.
@Yescarrot: I found this report dating it to a group of "camps" established during the 1970s and 1980s. This at least narrows the window enough for historical context. I suggest using it. This book also makes reference to some of the camps inhabitants originally being from nomadic tribes. This article in The New York Times emphasizes the history of the town as a place for many different kinds of displaced people. I note that the NYT article is calling the town Barda Qaraman in 2002 which matches the claim the name was in use prior to 2003. The NYT article could add something of value to the history section if you have access. If not I can add to it, but I might need to ask for a different reviewer if I start contributing as an editor. Please remember to sign your comments (see Wikipedia:Signatures on how to do that if you are unfamiliar using the edit feature) Best.4meter4 (talk) 16:30, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
@4meter4: I have used web archive to check the NYT article, and I found a camp (mostly talks about that). However, the town’s name is “Barda Qaraman” in 2002, so that’s good information. However, it might be the Kurds calling it Barda Qaraman, while the Arabs still calling it Bazinjan. The “book” you talked about was unavailable to view for me, and I checked the PDF, the best information, stating the camp was built between the 1970s and 1980s, which narrows it down. I will find more information. Yup.Yescarrot (talk) 10:04, 8 May 2026 (AST)

To move this along I went in and fixed factual errors, source misrepresentations, and lots of unnecessary repetition. I've also added a couple higher quality sources. I am now no longer an uninvolved editor, so this will need to be taken up by a different reviewer.4meter4 (talk) 15:38, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

General eligibility:

Policy compliance:

• Adequate sourcing: No - Well, the sourcing is confusing re WP:FRANKENSTEIN; the article appears to conflate Barda Qaraman the town and a Kurdistan refugee camp with the same name (this Guardian article confirms they're not the same; see edit history for details). The mentions of Barda Qaraman in https://www.fidh.org/IMG/pdf/iq350a.pdf only refer to the displaced persons camp, with the mentions of towns built by Ba'athist Iraq being in general (and after the first mention of Barda Qaraman), hence the second sentence should be written like this accordingly. The second paragraph's final sentence doesn't directly say that "Local residents and tourists visit the site to learn about Kurdish history", just that they consider it a historical site (see Khalid and Duleimi's quotes). I could add these, but they would be too major an addition for me to do myself since they're introducing new facts (and I had to remove a lot of the coatrack), though I can copyedit redundancies in the first paragraph after they are implemented.
• Neutral: Yes
• Free of copyright violations, plagiarism, and close paraphrasing: Yes

Hook eligibility:

• Cited: No - I have reservations about the hook's verifiability. On one hand, ALT0 seems to meet DYKCITE since it technically claims it's called "Eggplant", but then the kurdistan24 source is apparently a translation given the name was (erroneously?) translated alongside the text.
• Interesting: Yes
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Apologies for the delay; I got a last-minute work call before I could finish and I needed to reflect on this given so much changes had to be made given the WP:FRANKENSTEIN problem. Created two days before creation, prose size 2073 B. Outside of minor fixes per V, not much to say except the issues I already brought up. There are issues with WP:LEDECITE, but consider them optional. Nom so QPQ not needed. Given the issue with ALT0 (and the changes made to the page), I'm inclined to propose an ALT1 to be safe:

@Yescarrot: What are your thoughts on the hooks, and do you approve of the changes I made (as well as the changes I want to make)? Because I had to make a lot in order to get the article closer to passable quality, so I need to ask to be safe. I also may have to fix these hooks after the fixes are made. ミラP@Miraclepine 13:24, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

• Comment. I'm not seeing how The Guardian article is supporting a claim that these are two separate locations (although my knowledge of this content area is not strong). I'm guessing it is because of geographic description? 4meter4 (talk) 15:33, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
• Yes. The Guardian says that "the Barda Qaraman refugee camp [is] set on a desolate rocky hillside south of the city of Sulaymania, each week." But the town, at least according to coordinates and Google Maps, positions it northwest of the same city. Given the name Barda Qaraman is laudatory towards Kurdish military actions, it makes sense that there would be two places with that name, so we can't automatically say that they're one and the same. ミラP@Miraclepine 15:49, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
• I think we need a new review for the new proposed hooks? theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 20:27, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
• Yes and given all the changes that had to be made, same for the article. @Yescarrot: since you've been active since the review: reminder that this will time out in four days, so please address the issues I brought up. ミラP@Miraclepine 00:08, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Apologies, didn't notice that this was eligible as new to mainspace. I resolved the tag by removing all of the unsourced content, which means this is under 1500 characters. I'm guessing that included the hook, because I don't see it there now. (Earwig's fine.)--Launchballer 19:31, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Hello, I have fixed the hook so it only shows Richer, sorry if this was at all an inconvenience and hope this is still eligible F1fan00 (talk) 11:58, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

• , I finished reviewing. It's overall a great article. However the multiple albums thing is a bit vague. My alternative hook would be "... that the Bulgarian-choral-Throat-singing fusion on Fly, Fly My Sadness was inspired by playing folk choir and a throat singing group at the same time?"
• @Spravato: This hook also works, but personally, if I was scrolling DYK, I might prefer my original hook for it's brevity, and I am okay with the vagueness. I have asked some others and they said the first hook was acceptable and concise (By the way, I do appreciate that you suggested a revised hook and it's the job of the reviewer, I'm just trying to defend my reasoning). So, I would like to have nominate my original hook for DYK. ALittleClass (talk) 20:31, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

• Article has been expanded five times its size (from ~7k bytes to ~35k bytes). Sourcing is decent, but there are some issues with the ones used in the hook. I am unsure about the quality of the New York Post and Huffington Post per WP:RSP. Can you please provide a rationale as to why these should be acceptable for DYK? (Additionally, while this has nothing to do with DYK eligibility as none of the hooks use these as sources, I should let you know that Medium, Know Your Meme and the California Post are generally unreliable, and the Irish Sun is deprecated). Gommeh (talk! sign!) 14:06, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
• Over the next day I will go ahead and see if I can find some alternative sources. To address why I used the New York Post and Huffington Post as sources; given the nature of the subject of this article, the amount of credible references wasn't much. I wasn't familiar with this subject when I stated editing, I saw that there was a number of social media and blog like posts when looking for sources the vast majority of had no use for an encyclopedia. However, some of it led to me find better terms to search. Furthermore, for the did you know your meme ref, I should of added Template:Primary sources references section / (better source needed tag), or not included that one at all. For the other sources that you mentioned, I ran into the same issue, this topic seems vast given the amount of explicit content and the way that it just exists and interacts on the internet though there wasn't much credible references illustrating this. • I formatted it that way because it was from the Vita's translation in the McNamara book, which is in the second section of the chapter about Sadalberga (pp. 178–194). As this article states, the Vita was written by an anonymous author. What would be a better choice?
• I don't understand your problem with the headings. The first is its historical context, including a brief summary of its plot. The second is a discussion of its impact and influence, including what scholars have said about it. Can you suggest better heading titles?
• I returned the missing statement and the red link, as per your request. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 04:37, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
• Nothing in the citation indicates that you are citing a translation of the Vita itself: Anonymous (1996). "Saint Sadalberga". In McNamara, Jo Ann; Halborg, John E.; Whatley, E. Gordon (eds.). Sainted Women of the Dark Ages. Translated by McNamara, Jo Ann. Duke University Press. pp. 178–194. ISBN 0-8223-1200-X. I would use the format for footnotes—but that's not the only option. It just needs to be clear what it is. The title of Anonymous 1996 is given as "Saint Sadalberga", which does not indicate the Vita.
• Okay. The Vita is short, only a few pages, so there's only one chapter. Should I fill in "1" in the blank space? But thanks for the assistance and guidance, and for teaching me about how to format historical sources. (This means that I'll have to reformat the same source in Sadalberga, which is easy enough.)
• We go from background to influence without discussing content. I'm not necessarily saying the article is deficient, but its structure may leave readers confused. What if I don't care about background and influence and just want to know what's in it? Srnec (talk) 17:04, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
• The content includes the plot summary, in the first paragraph. I could either separate the two paragraphs in current "Background" section, even though I personally don't like single-paragraph sections. Or I could rename it to "Plot summary and background." I could also rename the "Influence" to "Historical impact and influence". I will follow your suggestions. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:14, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
• Looking at it more closely, I'd say the Background section really isn't. It is more synopsis and dating. Likewise, the Influence section is probably more Analysis. When I write articles on pre-modern literary works, I think in terms of composition (authorship, dating, place of composition), synopsis (what it says), transmission (manuscripts, editions, translations) and reception (how is has been used and read). The organization of the article often follows the same path. But every case is a little different. This is a suggestion. Srnec (talk) 01:01, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
• Full review needed now that article has been updated. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:56, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
• Thanks for working on this article, Figureskatingfan. It was nominated within 7 days of a sufficient expansion, so it counts as new. QPQ is done. Sources abound, and I see no neutrality issues. I do wonder whether we need a huge paragraph from McNamara (copyright issues?). I had to break up two paragraphs because they were too long to navigate. Now I wonder whether "also a controversial belief in the Merovingian era" is supposed to be covered by citation #28. Could you perhaps propose a hook about the significance of this vita? Alternatively, I would propose a shortening of ALT1: "that the protagonist of the Vita Sadalbergae had to overcome three obstacles in order to enter a monastery?" Surtsicna (talk) 11:58, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
ALT1 might need a slight rephrasing to make it clear that the subject isn't a work of fiction, meaning DYKFICTION doesn't apply. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:16, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Some initial comments:
• The reaction from scientists was mixed... I don't see a mixed response. I see a unanimous "nothing to see here" response. Mixed implies something else entirely.
• I don't think you need a separate conspiracy section. If anything you can merge whatever you can salvage into background, where conspiracy is already mentioned.
• You've got a half-dozen or so poor sources that you don't need. An article about UAPs should be especially conservative in its approach.
• The last para. of "Third June 12, 2026 release" engages in several well-known fallacies common to this subject and should probably be revised or deleted. There may simply be a better way to say this.
• Second paragraph of "Second May 22, 2026 release" has an unsourced sentence.
• Some of the material appears excessively wordy and can probably be cut back.
More later if nobody comes forward to provide a review. Viriditas (talk) 20:14, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
Note: after some outside consultation on another talk page, a like-minded colleague, who takes a far more hardheaded, realist, and practical approach than I do, leads me to believe this nomination should fail. Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: None required.

Overall: I'm going to spot-check all instances of refs 3, 5, and 10 in this version:

• canonical inquiry doesn't appear to be supported by the source
• nor is Following this episode, Acquaderni—together with Bishop Macarone Palmieri—became the principal promoter of the construction of a sanctuary on the site, organizing a fundraising campaign that drew donations from across Italy and from Italian emigrants abroad., the source doesn't mention Acquaderni
• nor is Economic difficulties, the death of Bishop Macarone Palmieri in 1897, and the disruption caused by both World Wars meant that the perimeter walls were not finished until around 1950, the source doesn't mention economic difficulties or Palmieri's death
• nor is The sanctuary was solemnly consecrated on 21 September 1975, in the presence of Bishop Carinci—now buried in the sarcophagus behind the high altar—and of all the bishops of Molise, the source only says construction was completed in 1975 with no further detail

I'm going to stop the spot-checks here as all of the first four have brought up issues, please can you go through the article and ensure the content is supported by the sources cited? In case you used an LLM to translate this, please see WP:LLMTRANSLATE, if this was LLM-generated, please see WP:NOLLM. Thank you Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 23:32, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for the thorough review, @Kowal2701. I am currently working through the four sourcing issues you identified, cross-referencing the article text against the primary sources — specifically Mattei's published history of the sanctuary and archival issues of Il Servo di Maria. I will update the article and citations accordingly within the next few days. I appreciate your patience. Dt.fabio (talk) 12:26, 30 May 2026 (UTC) @Kowal2701 thank you for the careful review. I have now corrected the article and want to account for each of the four issues you raised.

1. Canonical inquiry — A new inline citation has been added to the sentence on Bishop Macarone Palmieri's formal declaration of 23 February 1889: Il Servo di Maria, 23 February 1889, p. 105, as cited in Mattei, Il Santuario dell'Addolorata a Castelpetroso, Grafica Isernina, 1982, pp. 65, 71–73. The existing Marie de Nazareth ref has been retained as a secondary source.

2. Acquaderni as promoter — The phrase "organizing a fundraising campaign that drew donations from across Italy and from Italian emigrants abroad" has been removed, as overseas fundraising was conducted by Don Domenico Lombardo at a later stage, not by Acquaderni. The sentence now reflects what Mattei documents directly: the establishment of a committee comprising the bishop, the archpriest of Castelpetroso, Acquaderni, and others, with Il Servo di Maria as the official fundraising organ (Mattei, p. 65; Il Servo di Maria, 9 February 1889, p. 68).

3. Economic difficulties / death of Macarone Palmieri / World Wars — The three factors are now individually sourced: death of Macarone Palmieri on 27 February 1897 via Catholic-Hierarchy; World War I and II disruption via Mattei, pp. 195–196 and 211; perimeter walls completed in 1950 via L'Addolorata di Castelpetroso bulletin, Anno Santo 1950, p. 260 ("ultimate le mura perimetrali del Tempio"). The word "around" has been removed as the source is explicit.

4. Consecration 1975 / burial of Carinci — The names of the co-consecrating bishops are now cited to Mattei, p. 325. The description of Carinci's burial has been corrected from "sarcophagus behind the high altar" to "beneath the Throne of the Virgin Mary within the sanctuary", per Find a Grave (memorial no. 50858694).

Additional correction — The gallery caption gave Macarone Palmieri's birth year as 1838; corrected to 1817 per Catholic-Hierarchy.

I hope this addresses all the concerns raised. Dt.fabio (talk) 14:47, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

@Dt.fabio, thank you but my concerns were with the article as a whole, not just those four instances. Can you please look over the article and ensure the text is directly supported by the sources before I do another spot-check? If this one brings up issues I'm afraid I'm going to have to fail this Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 21:53, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying your point. I will go over every passage of the article carefully. I am now working to verify all the sources with greater accuracy and, where needed, to integrate or replace them using a historical monograph on the sanctuary. I would ask you for the patience of a few more days. I will let you know here as soon as I am done. --Dt.fabio (talk) 07:58, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

@Kowal2701, I have gone through the entire article, checking the sources and adding references to the monograph on the history of the sanctuary (Antonio M. Mattei, Il Santuario dell'Addolorata a Castelpetroso, Grafica Isernina, 1982) where needed. I have corrected a number of errors and inaccuracies. Thank you for your comments. --Dt.fabio (talk) 07:12, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks. Doing a spot check of refs 3, 4, and 16 on this version:
• ref 3 doesn't mention anything about On 19 March 1995, the solemnity of Saint Joseph, Pope John Paul II visited the shrine., nor anything about on 5 July 2014, the same Pope made a pilgrimage to Castelpetroso, meeting the youth of Abruzzo and Molise on the basilica's forecourt., nor From February 1993 to 2005 the sanctuary was entrusted to the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate and the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate. Care subsequently passed to the Conventual Franciscans of Abruzzo and Molise. Pastoral care is currently entrusted to secular priests of the Archdiocese of Campobasso–Boiano, assisted by the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (SSVM).
Dt.fabio, have the sources been mixed up by chance? Kowal2701 (talk, contribs) 10:37, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your notes, Kowal, and you were right — the sourcing wasn't clear. I've now cited the sanctuary's own site for the papal visits. For the pastoral care section I've removed "February 1993", since the sources agree on the year but not the month, and I've also removed "of Abruzzo and Molise", as no source confirms it. Rather than just address the three statements you flagged, I went through everything that relied on that reference. I've added the Mattei volume as the source for the bishop's reported vision, and I've removed the Vanilla Magazine source from the article entirely. Whenever you have a moment, I'd be grateful if you could proceed with the second spot-check. Thanks again. Dt.fabio (talk) 16:29, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

• Date, size, QPQ, spot checks, fine. I am concerned about the hook, which is much less about the subject than about the (unlinked) walking while trans. IMHO after reading this hook the readers won't care about the subject much, but they are interested in walking while trans concept. I think a more interesting hook about her is possible, for example, about her difficult childhood or sex work. We can also try to pack the hook with multiple factoids and retain the walking... concept there. But right now, I don't think the hook is fair to her - many would just click through to walking while trans, ignoring her bio. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:55, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

@Piotrus: Is this nomination good to go with one of the above hooks? theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 20:35, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
@Theleekycauldron: ALT1 is obviously more interesting, as it has another unusual claim about the subject, so it is my superior to ALT0. I don't see anyting else here (the one just above is an inconsequential rewording of ALT0). I can GTG ALT1 but the nom doesn't seem to like it, so I am unsure this would be fair. I did have hooks I disliked forced upon me by the reviewers, given the usual "run this or this doesn't run" and I didn't enjoy it, to say the least, so if possible I'd like to work out a hook everyone can be reasonably happy with. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:18, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
@Piotrus: To clarify, it was me, the article creator, that objected to ALT1, not the nominator (Launchballer). Funcrunch (talk) 03:05, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
@Funcrunch: That's what I meant, sorry if I was unclear. Any suggestions on how to make the hook more interesting? I know, it's technically about her alredy, but like I said, it would be best to pad it with more than the one thing that sounds more interesting than the subject (if I were to click and read one topic, the law seems much more interesting than an activist that was involved in passing it. Side note: the law is just a redirect now, maybe it would make a good DYK? Could make it a two-article DYK too then, solving the problem. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:44, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

• Hi CoryGlee, would you mind reworking this hook? At the moment it doesn't make grammatical sense. The prose is also a bit shaky at times in the article so a copyedit would be worthwhile. A few related points:
• "A resident of Cape Town and knowledgeable about Africa, he said that neither he nor his husband suffered from any attack" relevance of his knowledge of Africa here? Scanning the interview, it doesn't seem like the interviewer is making the claim that he is knowledgable, so is it van Dijk making this claiM?
• "highlight that there is no Islamism in Uganda and its religious influences to persecute homosexuals." I don't understand this.

• @CoryGlee: I agree with Whonting about the hook. "Inspired himself by" sounds incorrect in English; we would say someone "was inspired by" or "took/drew inspiration from". I am similarly confused by some of the article prose, such as "...there is no Islamism in Uganda and its religious influences to persecute homosexuals." - does "its" refer to Islamism or Uganda? Zzz plant (talk) 16:45, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

• Article is new enough, long enough, and was nominated in the proper time frame. No copyright violations detected. Hook fact is interesting and verified to the cited source. Unfortunately there are some significant WP:Verification problems which causes the nomination to fail WP:DYKCITE. There are unsourced claims in several spots in the article, some of which are tagged. In double checking paragraphs with only one citation at the end, I am catching places where the sources do not verify or support all the claims in that paragraph. In general, the article has not properly attributed where the content is coming from, and a rigorous amount of fact checking will need to be done to get this approved.
The nominator needs to go through the article and cite exactly where the content is coming from. I shouldn't be catching text that isn't supported in the sources being cited with inline citations. Note that this also means no lazy put all the citations/sources at the end of the paragraph. If all of the content is not in any one source, than there needs to be multiple citations within that paragraph with only the source verifying a particular claim being cited directly after each fact. We don't want the article getting pulled at WP:ERRORS for false citations. For example "Cahill, a hired English hitman, was paid €10,000 to carry out the killing." When I opened up the first citation after that fact at the end of the paragraph that fact wasn't found in that first source. That should not happen. If the whole text of the paragraph isn't found in any one source, then multiple citations must be used so that the reader can immediately find the correct source with that fact. We can't run this until the citation issues are fixed. If two or more sources are bundled each source should have all of the content in it. If it doesn't, than you need to add more citations in a paragraph so that only the source with that fact is being claimed as verifying a particular fact. Note I will check every sentence to make sure it is verified and that the citation immediately after each claim is in the source being cited. • Comment from passing promoter @Munfarid1 and SL93: These hooks don't read as neutral to me. ALT2's "to show readers the extent to which hatred and extremism have become much more common than many people realize" assumes Bennhold's statement as truth; ALT0 does the same with Bennhold's pronouncement on news fatigue. ALT1 strikes me as failing WP:DYKINT; it does not seem unusual or intriguing that a New York Times writer would be interviewed on a major broadcaster on U.S. policy. I'd suggest recasting the two remaining hooks in a neutral tone to facilitate selection by a promoter. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:34, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
• @Dclemens1971 and SL93: Thanks for your comments, I was not aware of this subtle distinction. As recommended, I have just rephrased ALT0a and ALT2a. Munfarid1 (talk) 19:05, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
• @Munfarid1: Thanks for the response. I don't think the revisions work, though. ALT0a sounds like marketing material for the NYT ("did you know an NYT employee thinks their products do this good thing?") and ALT2a seems to need more explanation, perhaps to explain briefly that it was controversial that Bennhold was interviewing him. Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:14, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
• @Dclemens1971 and SL93: Thanks for the quick response. I don't understand your objection to ALT0a, though, as it specifically talks about newsletters intended to curb news and reading fatigue. This is a fact mentioned in the source, referring to a current discussion about news and IMHO not marketing talk.- Anyway, as we are both trying to find a solution, you might find ALT0b more appropriate. - In ALT2b, I have tried to express the controversial nature of the question why she interviewed a right-wing extremist. - As further alternatives, I have added ALT3 and ALT4, with the latter straightforward, and a purposely intriguing wording. Hoping these options will lead to an appropriate option for promotion. Munfarid1 (talk) 12:09, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
• The hooks about the Sellner interview I still don't understand and it doesn't seem like more explanation is helping. On the short news videos, "wants to empower young people" reads once again like marketing language. However, ALT3 goes too far the other way by highlighting a bit of criticism in a way that seems to emphasize it unduly and run afoul of WP:DYKBLP. Finally, on ALT4, I see a potentially interesting hook here (something along the lines of "... that 'journalist Katrin Bennhold believes that "in Sweden, men can have it all"?), but the hook is based on a column WP:HEADLINE, which is not considered a reliable source and which are generally not written by the columnist herself; her actual article does not put this phrase in her own voice. Dclemens1971 (talk) 00:59, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
• Thanks again for your comments. I have added ALT3a, avoiding the strong worded part of the criticism and ALT4a and ALT4b, where I have tried to stay true to the title of the book chapter and article respectively. The NYT article being the source for the title, this ALT4b refers to the article she wrote, not only the title. To reflect this hook and her research about gender issues in the article, I have added the following sentence to the section /Further activities/: "One of the articles she wrote for the NYT based on her research about gender issues in Europe was titled "In Sweden, Men can have it all" and was reprinted in an academic book for selected reading."- In another attempt of improvement, I have rephrased ALT0c. - Hopefully one of these will do, Munfarid1 (talk) 11:36, 23 June 2026 (UTC)
• Hi SL93, as I have given several options for a suitable hook, I would appreciate to learn, which one you prefer as the reviewer of this nomination. Thanks, Munfarid1 (talk) 20:27, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

• I'm sorry, I just don't see any of these revised proposals as working. ALT0a is still mildly promotional, and why do we care what a New York Times employee thinks about the benefits of her employer's product? ALT0c is likewise uninteresting -- why should we care about why or how Katrin Bennhold wants to attract young people's attention? And I don't think the hooks about the headline of her article are interesting. First off, the book chapter was originally published as a NYT article, so that's where the headline came from. Second, the NYT headline is not necessarily written by her, and is indeed unlikely to have been written by her, as copy desk editors tend to compose headlines. She's a writer, she writes lots of things. Munfarid1, I would recommend revisiting the article and sources for some completely new angles. I have reviewed many alternatives now and I am unlikely to approve another variant on the angles you have been working. P.S. It's customary to propose alternatives in the flow of discussion, not back at the top of the nom; it makes the discussion more difficult to follow. You also don't need to strike old alts. BenTanXiaoMing, interesting development—Hexham Abbey has decided they would rather send some photos from their official photographer than use these. In the meantime, however, they've also asked that the photos already sent be taken down (which isn't an issue, since they hadn't sent a permissions email). This is great news all in all, as it sounds like we have some high-resolution, professional-quality photos to which to look forward, but it does mean we're back without an image for now. • Hi JanManisijun, the article is new enough and long enough. You did not need to provide QPQ. There are two textual issues.
• Three uncited passages: As a result of increased demand for resources from this alliance, the Ojibwe began to expand westward into the Great Lakes region, and eventually northern modern-day Minnesota. and beginning their progressed displacement from the Mississippi River., The Ojibwe continued to assume control over the Upper Mississippi and present-day northern Minnesota, and had full access to the now routed Dakota villages. At DYK, articles need to have a citation to cover all claims (beyond the lead section).
• The trail is not mentioned in the body of the article with a citation, which is necessary because it is the hook fact. The lake, however, is.
• The hook source is an offline book. Is it possible to provide the passage in the source that verifies the hook? (I have changed ALT1 to ALT0a as it is the same fact reworded; I prefer this wording).

• I apologize for my absence!
• I added sources for those sentences. Let me know if they aren't adequate enough
• I mentioned the trail within the same sentence that I mentioned the lake
• Below is the exact passage that I was citing from that book. If you need actual access to the book I can try to find it again online for you!

The second division, proceeding in their war canoes against the Sandy Lake village, met with precisely the same fate. They were paddling down the smooth current of the Mississippi, when one morning they met a canoe containing the advance scouts of a large Ojibway war party, who were on their route to attack their village at Leech Lake; these scouts were immediately attacked, and pursued by the Dakotas into a small lake, where the main body of the Ojibways coming up, both parties landed and fought for half a day on the shores of the lake. This battle is noted from the fact that a Dakota was killed here whose feet were both previously cut half off either by frost or some accident, and the lake where the fight took place is known to this day as “Keesh-ke-sida-boin Sah-ga-e-gun” “Lake of the cut-foot Dakota.” The belligerent parties both retreated to their respective villages from this point, their bloody propensities being for the time fully cooled down.

Ray Allensworth

• – hi Jishara, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for creating this article! I expect this could be a good candidate for DYK, but there are some issues which I think would need to be addressed first. At the moment, the article makes a number of claims which are not sufficiently supported by the sources, including those in the hooks. Namely whether she "led the team behind" Blue Ghost Mission 1; the only source which seems to state this plainly is her entry in the TIME100, which as an award blurb is questionably independent and not a great source. The article also relies heavily on interviews/quotes and includes comments on her motivations in accepting roles, her goals, and the difficulty of her tasks, things which are not really encyclopedic. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 00:35, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
• Hi Vermont! I've updated the article a bit, removing the difficulty and motivation lines and adding additional sources for the led the team part. Please let me know if there are still more updates needed. Jishara (talk) 03:59, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
• Hi @Vermont: just wanted to see if you might have a chance to double check? Jishara (talk) 16:25, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
• Jishara, thanks for the ping (unsure how I missed the previous one, sorry) and for your edits to the article! I'm still unclear on whether we can say in wikivoice that Allensworth "led the team".
For Blue Ghost Mission 2, in the article text we have: "Since then, she began focusing on leading the team for Blue Ghost Mission 2." This is cited to this satnews.com article, where the only description of Allensworth is as "Firefly’s spacecraft program director". I don't think "leading the team" is implied by the title of "program director".
For Blue Ghost Mission 1, we have a similar situation: independent sources describe her title but not her responsibilities. There is this interview where Allensworth describes her job: "I'm the spacecraft program director, so largely I focus on the land and the orbit portion of kind of all of our portfolio of programs, largely focusing on all our civil and commercial space, so like all the commercial business basically." To me, this self-description does not support the idea that she 'led the team behind the mission', and we don't have solid independent sourcing for that either.
In the article text: "As Spacecraft Program Director, her focus was still on Mission 1: she led the Mission Control team on the mission." This is sourced to Firefly's "company" page (which lists a short corporate bio of Allensworth), a corporate LinkedIn post, and this spaceflightnow.com article. As far as I can tell, none of these mention mission control, and we should be using independent sources here when we can.
I don't think either of these hooks are feasible, and the article text should be updated prior to a DYK to better match the sources. (I also notice Allensworth isn't mentioned on Blue Ghost Mission 1) However, I don't want you to miss out on this DYK, and personally I absolutely love the work you've been doing to improve coverage of women. Conditional on edits to the article, I think we can support a hook that uses the title rather than describing responsibilities. I'll propose one below. Vermont (🐿️🏳️‍🌈) 18:11, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
ALT3: ...that Ray Allensworth was named to the Time 100 Next in 2025 for her work as Spacecraft Program Director of Blue Ghost Mission 1, the first private spacecraft to successfully land on the moon?
• Hey, no problem about missing the ping, and that makes sense re: leading the team - only sources I have explicitly stating that are the Time100, the Firefly social media posts about her promotion, and a podcast, none of which are super strong. I quite like Alt3 and would be really happy to get her on DYK with this! PS: thanks for the compliment. I really love the work you've done on Wrath Month! @Vermont: delayed ping because I forgot to sign. Jishara (talk) 18:50, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

• Welcome to DYK, Eldelgadoariol! The article is new enough and long enough. You did not need to provide QPQ. I am not sure if I like the hook fact. The catalog link loads a 403 for me, so I cannot even verify it. I am worried that there isn't a great hook to be had, and I'm not in love with yours. Is it noteworthy when a museum/library holds a photobook in its collection? To me, unfamiliar with the subject, this reads as rather boring. I'd like to see a stab at something more interesting. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 07:23, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback. Here is an alternative hook:
• ALT1: ... that the photobook The Tree of Life is Eternally Green by Spanish duo Pascual and Vincent includes pressed flowers and leaves that the photographers collected during their travels through rural Romania?
This fact is supported by two independent sources (NEO2 Magazine and Float Magazine, refs 4 and 5 in the article). Eldelgadoariol (talk) Eldelgadoariol (talk) 08:03, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
• @Eldelgadoariol: I'm looking at this and feeling the same issue. ALT1 (gave the hook a name per our norms) is pretty boring. @Theleekycauldron: I'm really struggling with the interestingness here and don't know quite what to say. The hooks are just too long and not likely to catch the attention of readers. I'm going to give a rewording of ALT2 a try, but I also warn that the "since 1990" and emigration part from the article is not checking out in source, Eldelgadoariol. If I cannot get citations for that, then this nomination will be closed. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 14:41, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
ALT2a: ... that a photobook by Pascual and Vincent profiles a Germanic community in Romania that has lost most of its population since 1990?
ALT2b: ... that a photobook by Pascual and Vincent profiles a centuries-old Germanic community in Romania?
@Sammi Brie: Good catch, thank you. The demographic claim was indeed only hanging off the photobook reviews. I've now added an Encyclopædia Britannica reference directly to that sentence in the article; it confirms that most Transylvanian Saxons emigrated to Germany after the fall of the Ceaușescu regime, leaving roughly 20,000 (under 1% of Transylvania's population) by the early 21st century. The link is open-access and loads fine, so it should be straightforward to verify. With that sourced, ALT2a checks out. If a sharper hook helps with interestingness, I'd also propose:
ALT2c: ... that a photobook by Pascual and Vincent profiles a centuries-old Germanic community in Romania that has dwindled to under 1% of the region's population? Eldelgadoariol (talk) 17:12, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

From Filipinos; In 2020, the neologism Filipinx appeared; a demonym applied only to those of Filipino heritage in the diaspora and specifically referring to and coined by Filipino Americans[citation needed] imitating Latinx, itself a recently coined gender-inclusive alternative to Latino or Latina. An online dictionary made an entry of the term, applying it to all Filipinos within the Philippines or in the diaspora.[71] In actual practice, however, the term is unknown among and not applied to Filipinos living in the Philippines, and Filipino itself is already treated as gender-neutral. The dictionary entry resulted in confusion, backlash and ridicule from Filipinos residing in the Philippines who never identified themselves with the foreign term.[72][73] Finnfrog99 (talk) 10:58, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

I was about to approve this, but ALT1 currently isn't DYKHFC-compliant since the fact doesn't have a footnote in the article (it's also only mentioned in the lede rather than the body, but that's not necessarily a DYK issue, just noting it as unideal). I'll give this the tick once the Them reference has been duplicated. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:56, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

• As I said at DYKT, I think the setup of "Did you know that people posted comments on the internet about X" is an uninteresting fact to anyone without a specialist interest in this subject matter and thus fails WP:DYKINT. People post comments on the internet speculating about everything. While I wouldn't have objected if another queue mover had found it to meet DYKINT, another user also found this uninteresting and the nomination has now been pulled. The usual approach when DYKINT is questioned is for an alternative hook to be developed, and that's what I'd recommend here. There's also some WP:INUNIVERSE language in "Creation and background" that could be revised, and the overall text is somewhat inscrutable to anyone unfamiliar with this game. You reference the documentary itself but without linking it; I have no desire to seek it out and watch it to verify. At least one other source of yours I've seen (the Salon review) mentions Kanye so you could use that one in the paragraph.
• Interesting: Yes
• Other problems: No - The hook had me a bit confused for a second, because of the ambiguity between the words "elector" and "voter". In my native languge those two words mean the same thing. I'd suggest adding some blue to make it clearer for casual readers.
QPQ: None required.

Overall: With my comments and some MOS adjustments I suggest ALT0b: ... that the PBS documentary One Person, One Vote? follows four presidential electors from the 2020 US presidential election, including a Kanye West elector?

• Not a review, but I don't think these meet WP:DYKMAJOR since they're primarily tangentially focused primarily on the players in the 2024 NBA Finals, especially given this GA is so large there should be an interesting part about the 2024 NBA Finals or what the players directly did in them. ミラP@Miraclepine 19:49, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

• Article is new enough and long enough. This is the nominator's first nomination so no QPQ is required. Earwig finds a match with this page; I presume Wikipedia copied from the article rather than the other way around since that page post-dates the article but out of an abundance of precaution I would suggest rewriting the plot section. The hook as currently written might not be interesting to a broad audience since 1. series being based on spin-offs, or series being spin-offs is very common, and 2. the hook mainly interests Lookism fans and not general readers. I would suggest proposing additional hooks before this nomination can continue. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 07:46, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the review! I have completely rewritten the synopsis to ensure it is 100% distinct. To address the hook interest for a broader audience, here's the alternative I'm proposing:
• ALT1: ... that media outlets have compared the titular character of the upcoming television series Agent Kim Reactivated to Bryan Mills from the action film Taken?
Let me know if this work better! 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚖𝚎 09:28, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
To be honest, it's a better hook but probably still not interesting, mainly because for non-film buffs or those otherwise unfamiliar with Taken, it's not very interesting either. My suggestion would be to try proposing a hook that isn't a comparison. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:00, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback. I'd like to try one final alternative hook:
• ALT2: ... the titular character of the upcoming television series Agent Kim Reactivated is a savings bank employee who is secretly a former secret intelligence agent?
If this still doesn't quite meet the threshold for broad appeal, I will likely withdraw the nomination. 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚖𝚎 03:16, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
The issue with that hook is that it violates WP:DYKFICTION. That is, it is about an in-universe fact (in this case, about the main character's jobs) that does not have a connection to the real world. That hook cannot run because it is about a plot point. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:57, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
• I think ALT1 is good, but I would shorten it to ALT1b: ... that Agent Kim Reactivated was described as the Korean Taken?
• How about ALT3: ... although the Korean titles of The Dream Life of Mr. Kim and Agent Kim Reactivated are similar, they are completely different genres? (source) You need to find a way to incorporate this to the article though.
• ALT4: ... that Agent Kim Reactivated is So Ji-sub's first SBS drama appearance in 13 years? source
• Or you can wait until the drama airs on June 26 and make a hook based on the reviews from the general public or critics. There is time before the hook is timed out (July 30).

KimYubin (talk) 12:55, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Right now, only ALT1b is the only usable angle here, but it would need to be attributed: who said it? If it was one critic, it should say "that a critic described...". Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:12, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

"but only in 2010 was a recording studio added" isn't very interesting to me, if we're going to go the route of ALT1, I think it'd be better to go ALT1b: ... that former residents of Wolf's Lair (pictured) include the Beatles, Marlon Brando, Debbie Reynolds, Moby, and the Rolling Stones?
I mean, all these musicians live there and none of them think to add a recording studio until Moby? I find that kinda strange, but I guess that's a matter of taste. Happy to let the next reviewer choose. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 04:40, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
Marlon Brando isn't part of "all these musicians live there", so if we want to go that route, I propose ALT1c: ... that despite former Wolf's Lair (pictured) residents including the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, a recording studio wasn't added until it was bought by Moby in 2010?

New enough (moved to mainspace from draft on 28 May 2026, nominated the same day; DYKcheck flags this as old, but that's measured from today and the move resets the clock) and long enough at 1,990 characters of prose. QPQ not required (nominator's first nomination). However there are several instances of close paraphrasing that need addressing. 3 outlined here, there may be more:

• "Producer Stephen Street was brought in"
• Article: "Producer Stephen Street was brought in, who also played the bass on 'English Landscape Tradition'. Street later paved the way for Reilly's role on Morrissey's debut solo album Viva Hate."
• Source: "Producer Stephen Street was brought in (paving the way for Reilly's crucial role on Morrissey's Viva Hate)" – Uncut
• Verbatim opening clause.
• "Miranda Stanton ... Pol"
• Article: "Miranda Stanton of Thick Pigeon contributed vocals, as did Reilly's partner at the time Pol."
• Source: "Miranda Stanton of Factory label-mates Thick Pigeon contributing these along with Vini's partner of the time Pol" – Louder Than War
• Clause structure mirrored; "partner of the time Pol" → "partner at the time Pol" is near-verbatim.
• "bonus discs" sentence
• Article: "with two bonus discs, one featuring associated studio records, and another featuring a live show recording from a show at New York's Bottom Line Club, as well as two tracks live at WOMAD."
• Source: "associated studio recordings and a live show from the famous Bottom Line club in New York (along with two tracks taped at WOMAD 1988)" – Louder Than War
• Same elements in the same order, lightly reworded.

I suggest rewriting the affected passages into independent prose rather than patching individual phrases. There may be other examples; I found these 3 and stopped investigating further. RosePickfair 🌹 (talk) 21:35, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

Overall:

This is a very good, fascinating and well-written article. No NPOV issues, properly sourced, earwig is 16 percent, Long enough and no issue with May 30 GA approval to June 6 nomination. DYK has one major issue in that it is not WP:DYKINT. I would assume that the parkway has to do with the national park, so it's not particularly interesting or unusual.

There are a lot of great, interesting things in the article. The parkway partly developing from the work of a colonel + Cherokee surveyors during the Civil War, the Christmas light effort, the connection between the national park and Dollywood, etc. Ideally it's less of a fact and more of a factoid. I'd recommend providing a couple options along these lines if you can. Dizzycheekchewer (talk) 22:00, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

I concur, there's plenty of better options for hooks. I am a bit uncertain about the sourcing though since I can't read either of the major books used here (Great Smoky Mountains National Park 1993, Walks in the Great Smokies 1990). One thing that immediately jumps out is that the article here states that a band of 600 Cherokees assisted in the development of the road during the Civil War, but the Smoky Mountain News article indicates only 130 were initially present. Any quotes from the book would be helpful, especially on the early history part, which wasn't covered terribly in depth during the GA source review. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 12:11, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

Dizzycheekchewer, Reconrabbit - Sorry about the slow response; I've been busy on other projects. I can understand how some of you might think the hook is generic. However, I think its important, considering that this one single road carries probably 90% or more of the traffic bound for the park and the numerous tourist attractions. That is not true of all national parks, and it is very significant, considering that this results in the road being one of the busiest non-Interstate Highways in Tennessee. I think the Native American history of the road would be a better hook for U.S. Route 441 in Tennessee, which I am currently working on getting to GA, but not there yet. With regards to the number of Cherokees who worked on the Indian Gap Road (which is not part of GSM Parkway, but the continuation of US 441 to the south), I'll have to find my copies of these books. However, there is a chance that 600 is the total number that eventually worked on the project, not the number who worked all at once or initially. Bneu2013 (talk) 04:05, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

I get the feeling there, but it still doesn't really fit with DYKINT. Even if it's an important fact, it's not at all "likely to be perceived as unusual or intriguing". If there's a source that says the 90 percent stat, that's a bit more interesting, though a reframe would be needed (something like "dyk that one road guides 90 percent of the traffic to GSM"). The current hook-source doesn't fit with that claim either way. But either way, any person that sees the title "Great Smoky Mountains Parkway" will either a) know implicitly that it's the main road for the same-named NP or b) not know what GSM park is or why it would be interesting. Feel free to save the angle about the connection with Cherokee builders/surveyors, it was just one possible thing that would make people curious enough to click. I strongly suggest an additional 1-2 alts that follow something along those lines. Dizzycheekchewer (talk) 13:31, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Source: Philip Shriver Klein writes in President James Buchanan (can be found at the Internet Archive) that "Buchanan's father died ... when the horse [pulling his carriage] bolted" (p. 37).

But I am not sure how interesting this is, because carriage accidents were far from rare in this time period. Rand Freeman talkin solidarity 03:35, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

It's marginally interesting to me, though suggest spelling out that Buchanan was a president. I'll let a reviewer adjudicate. (Note that per my talk page, I won't be nominating the president's article myself, but do watchlist the GA nomination anyway.)--Launchballer 20:14, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
So something like: ALT1a: ... that U.S. President James Buchanan's father died in a carriage accident? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 04:08, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
After giving this some thought, I've modified the link to remove the bold link to President Buchanan. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:07, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
Methinks linking both, so as to make it clear that James Buchanan Jr. has an article as well, would be better. Having rephrased the hook to avoid an unsightly sea of blue I propose ALT1b: ... that the father of U.S. President James Buchanan died in a carriage accident? • @Laun I am good with ALT2 or ALT1, but it may need to be reworded, otherwise it may look odd that "the murder" isn't capitalized as it is in the game title. In the hook, I'd like something such as "his collection", otherwise I'd think it's his creations. The value estimate has two references given but I can't find a value mentioned in any of those. Recent GA, so easily passes spotchecks, QPQ not needed. But ALT0 is meh - the same could be said about most soldiers who participated in this (or any other) war. ALT1 is also meh for me, since it refers to a specific building. Better, but most folks don't know about it and it doesn't sound special. But how about a hook based on the claim from the article that "Kim is responsible for the design of a number of San Diego buildings"? Although the fact that none of them are blue linked in the paragraph is a minor annoyance; Scripps Clinic and Research is linked later, in a list that contains entries that are not in the prose earlier. I'd strongly suggested reworking the article so that a list of his buildings in one place. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:34, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

Do you have any other alternative hooks to suggest? Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:35, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
• I am not optimistic this will move forward since the nominator has not edited since making this nomination. It is new enough and long enough. However, its sources are unclear (page numbers and specific URLs are not provided), and the article is overly reliant on primary sources. As for the hook, perhaps it is validated by the sources, but it's impossible to determine since no quotations are provided in the nomination and insufficient data is provided to track down offline/unavailable sources. (Sorry not sorry, I am not applying to view a PhD thesis in order to validate this hook. The nominator needs to provide that info.) If other issues are addressed, I'd want to see the hook rewritten to be something like "... that a common textile recycling technique was named after P&C Garnett Ltd? which I think just scrapes over the line of interesting, but I'd also need to see the sources that support that. Finally, several paragraphs and statements are unsourced and this cannot appear at DYK until those are addressed. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:39, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

• As much as I despise entries on upcoming or recent commercial items (which we are flooded with at DYK, and which, IMO, should all be viewed as an advertisement strategy by the fans, or worse, and as such WP:COI): the article passes the mark (length, newness, originality, neutrality). Two QPQs are still requied. As for the main issue: the hook is simply prurient (how much should our standards drop on MainPage?); but, what is more, the factoid it refers to is subject to a content dispute, and not currently in the article. Dahn (talk) 05:37, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
I moved this from the talk page. Two QPQs have in fact been supplied as The World Is to Dig is a double nom (none of the previous reviews on that nomination count as full reviews). I disagree that the hook being prurient is a problem; WP:DYKGRAT only applies to excessively sensational/gratuitous hooks and I don't believe a hook about vagina lasers would be that for an article about a video that features them. (Frankly, I'd get rid of that rule altogether as readers can clearly handle it; four of the six highest viewed hooks of the year are sex-based.) I'll ping again when the dispute resolves. (Also, I'm neutral on Madonna.)--Launchballer 06:26, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
I don't have an opinion on the hook itself and I don't think we should ban sex-related hooks altogether, although I do share Dahn's concern that we have been running too many of them lately. Plus, the idea of "sex automatically sells on DYK" is disputed, not because the hooks don't do well (they tend to), but because there are concerns that they cheapen DYK and make us look too obsessed with sex or porn, which probably violates the spirit of DYKGRAT even if not the exact wording. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:50, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
I'll admit we're running quite a few at the moment, although the solution to that is to stagger them. I'm sure there are others in the article, but ALT1: ... that the video for Madonna's Confessions II – The Film features her daughter?--Launchballer 11:19, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Terribly uninteresting, though (I will also say, from a personal perspective, that combining the original hook and the proposed alt into a single hook, which I do not recommend doing, will give us a complete image of the current state of civilization). @Surtsicna: Long enough, new enough, QPQs done. No reason why either would deserve a maintenance template. There's quite a lot of ALT0 to take in; how do you feel about ALT0a: ... that when Saladin bombarded Kerak Castle during the wedding of the son of Stephanie of Milly, she sent him food from the banquet?--Launchballer 01:30, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Launchballer, how about ALT0b: ... that when Saladin bombarded her castle during her son's wedding (pictured), Stephanie of Milly reportedly sent him food from the feast, and he spared the newlyweds' tower?
That's already 28 characters shorter. If you prefer that the reader does not know the purpose of her sending the food to her attacker, then I propose changing ALT0a to say "her castle" instead of "Kerak Castle"; I think it is interesting to note that she was the hostess and not someone outside the castle. Surtsicna (talk) 10:09, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
The problem is that "Saladin bombarded her castle" implies that Saladin is female.--Launchballer 14:00, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
The cleanest solution to that might be to attach a masculine title and say "Sultan Saladin" instead of just Saladin. Or perhaps ALT0c: ... that Stephanie of Milly reportedly sent food from her son's wedding feast to Saladin as he bombarded her castle, and he in return spared the newlyweds' tower?
If we go with any version of ALT0, we probably need to add "reportedly" or something similar. This account comes from Ernoul, who says that Stephanie sent food to Saladin along with a reminder that he had once held her in her arms while he was a prisoner in that castle; historians doubt that Saladin was ever a prisoner at Kerak or that he could have held Stephanie as a baby, but at least one thinks it is likely that he did spare the newlyweds' tower, and none comment on the food part. I will say that the interesting bit is that she fed her son's attacker and not that he spared her castle, so I wouldn't mention the latter.--Launchballer 05:23, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Hi, Bremps. In the article being cited this isn't clear, but if it were a specific Superior Court it would mention the county, no, and not the state? I can take a deeper look at this but if you think it would be better to not specify, or to specify that it's a Superior Court but without going into further detail, I can do that. --Sky Harbor (talk) 15:02, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
I'm not a reviewer, in case I wasn't clear. I read the paper and I had the impression that they left it unclear which specific superior court it was so as not to dignify the complaint. But I would either try another hook or rewording this one, as I thought that the person had stolen a pen or something and was not impersonating the embassy. Bremps... 19:30, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
Okay, that's fair. How about this then for ALT1:
"...that in 1954, stolen stationery from the Philippine consulate in Seattle was used to address a judge of a state superior court about one of its rulings?"
Or something similar that at least makes clear which state was being addressed, since this hook in its current form doesn't do that? --Sky Harbor (talk) 07:08, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
It's a bit wordy, IMO. The page is also not updated. Bremps... 03:30, 26 June 2026 (UTC)
The article has been updated. Would this edit make it less wordy? Let's call this ALT1A:
"...that in 1954, stolen stationery from the Philippine consulate in Seattle was used to address a Washington superior court judge?"
I'm concerned it's missing context but this should be less wordy. --Sky Harbor (talk) 04:48, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

• Article is in good shape, without evidence of copyvio, and is eligible via GA promotion. I like the first hook, it's clean and concise. However, while I know the language is often referred to as te reo Māori in New Zealand, I think simply calling Māori here would be easier to understand for international audiences. QPQ checks out. Thank you for your good work with this article! Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 14:42, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look and for your kind words! I'm not super fussed with how the language is referred to - my initial reasoning for including te reo was that I was worried just saying "Māori" might not be specific enough, and "Māori language" would be too verbose for DYK. But maybe the context makes just "Māori" fine? So happy if that's the direction we want to go with this. Turnagra (talk) 09:17, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

• ALT3 … that there is a competition for 60 Seconds of Anything in Comic Fiesta?
The last one is a possible WP:DYKAPRIL one. @Sddarealone: Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 13:55, 20 June 2026 (UTC)

• Article: "The mining district centred on Ouro Preto is the world's dominant source of imperial topaz and has been so continuously since the early eighteenth century. The city of Ouro Preto — whose name translates as black gold in Portuguese, a reference to the gold-laden black limonite found during the Brazilian gold rush of the early 1700s — is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the topaz mines lie several kilometres outside its colonial centre, in the valleys of the Maracujá and Velhas river sub-basins."
This is not fully supported by the source, which says nothing about the name translating as black gold (although it does), limonite, or UNESCO. (Although it could be in the video?)
Although the source says that is the world's dominant source of imperial topaz, it does not say that has been so since the 18th century. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:49, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

Yeah, that wording's imprecise, let me come up with something better.
For the sourcing, that's something I wondered about because most/all of these Outlines are not fully sourced articles per se in their design. All the bullet point items for example are ANL templates like Article name to output the local page's short description, and the mini-ledes are summaries of the block. Even the featured article Outline of lichens doesn't ref tag all things. I wasn't sure on that. — Very Polite Person (talk/contribs) 15:57, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
That article looks fully sourced to me. I give a pass to the anl templates, but each section of this article has an introductory paragraph or two if text (which makes up the 17K word size) and only the first one is referenced. I will ask for a second opinion. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:15, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
It probably wouldn't be hard to carve out a small legion of sources from each sub-article in each section (each mini-lede in the Outline is basically just a summation of that sub-list contents). I was going to (later) rewrite them all past ANL to specific catered sentences for each domain, so if an article shows up in 2-3 sections, it would have a unique source/sentence for each on that specific context... but that's a, uh, year long project probably to do clean. I can "hot drop" in a lot if needed quick, just not ultra tidy/matching formats and as organized as I prefer. What do you think? No hurry of course!
Has one of these Outlines ever come up on DYK? — Very Polite Person (talk/contribs) 17:19, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
An Outline article is a kind of list, and lists are permitted at DYK. WP:DYKLEN: Stand-alone lists are allowed, but only the prose part of article counts towards the 1500 character requirement. I checked and found that at least one Outline has run on DYK: Outline of canoeing and kayaking on 20 November 2010. I would not have rated it as eligible, as it falls slightly short of the 1,500 word minimum. I emphasis that the anl templates are fine; what is required is referencing of the introductory text of each section, which is the only part that counts towards the 1,500 word requirement. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:18, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
As I suspected I would, I had to nuke anl completely - was timing out mediawiki calling so many, so I flipped them to plain old wikilinks, kept the short description off each, and started populataing mini-ledes with suitable basic sources from linked child articles. Not pretty and a ton of formats but I can clean that up later. — Very Polite Person (talk/contribs) 19:56, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Another editor said the page would not load for them, but it loads fine for me. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:47, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

• I believe it should be fine, as I did check all the criteria and found no issues. I did not see it was in backlog mode when I submitted it, and am looking for a good DYK to review as I write this. I also did not see the table (as I normally don't check those, and the DYK hook did not mention it or use the table) so I have simply removed the table from the article (see its history). I have to guess at what "NFL" might mean. The refs look OK and its long enough. The hook is not interesting. "Some academy that you've never heard of had a lot of applications" and the evidence is behind this paywall... somewhere. Your "newbie" badge gets you through though. I can suggest some themes e.g. DYK that the American National Football Academy is based in a town in the UK and a city in Australia? (from the lede). ... after writing that suggestion though .... I read down further ... where it talks about Asia? What is this article about? The Title, contradicts the lede I think, and that seems to contradict the sub-headings. Ping me when the subject is more clear, at the moment its not a contender. Victuallers (talk) 11:55, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

Its a "B" level article based on very good sources and it is well referenced. (Daniel Case does not appear to be an AI creation). It is neutral in dealing with a subject that could create some political commentary. Is there are any republican reaction to this "FakeNews" story? Would a hook with "Fakenews" work. (Some of Emily Harts followers knew she was "FakeNews" but they (and her creator) didn't care). ALT1 implies that all MAGA fans are dumb. Too political IMO for front page. I think the hooks are a bit long, ALT3 gives away everything and loses its hookiness IMO, but I'll check if they are over the limit. still WIP Victuallers (talk) 09:59, 21 June 2026 (UTC) No issue with lots of copyvio detected that are identified as coming from the frequent short quotes. @Victuallers: I did look for Republican/conservative reaction but found none. Maybe they wisely figured the less oxygen the story got the better. Daniel Case (talk) 04:09, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks Daniel. I shortened alt3 as it was flagged as too long. My version would read
No issue with the main or alt1 hooks. If you ping me then I could look at variations. Super article and hook that align with the values of Wikipedia. Well done and thank you. I'm wondering if someone should sell MEGA badges/hats saying "Make Emily Great Again" at Wikimania? Another good date for the front page? Victuallers (talk) 08:08, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
I have some concerns re. text source integrity: as far as I can work out, all (or nearly all) of the sourcing in this article relies upon the Wired article, which is much more in-depth than any of the copiers, so when the latter are cited, you have to be careful that you're not including details solely found in the Wired article. This Independent article doesn't mention "scrolling through his Instagram feed one day" or "Google's Nano Banana Pro", this Times of India article doesn't mention MAGA men being "very loyal", this Brobible article doesn't mention "T-shirts with political slogans like "PTSD: Pretty Tired of Stupid Democrats"". If the original Wired article was solely used these problems would cease to exist, but I guess the article would then look less notable? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:34, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
Also, ALT0 doesn't work as Wired attributes the claim of thousands of dollars to the student (A med student says he’s made thousands of dollars), and the hook should do likewise. As for the suggestion on DYKT that this run on the 4 July weekend to tie into the U.S. Independence Day holiday, I think it would be WP:DYKGRAT to run a hook insulting the intelligence of a large number of Americans deliberately timed to appear around their national holiday. I cannot imagine a proposal that a hook about how a bunch of, say, Bhutanese got scammed by an AI grifter be run in conjunction with their national holiday being accepted. I don't object to this article appearing at DYK in general provided it eventually meets the DYK criteria, but specifically selecting it for the 4 July weekend appears deliberately provocative and offensive. Dclemens1971 (talk) 15:22, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

I have been having a think about this since AirshipJungleman29's comment above. After reading it and reviewing WP:N's endnote 4, I will probably remove most of the "stories about the story" sources since as AJ notes they have no original reporting. This leaves two options.

First, I think I could still make a case for notability on the OECD page and Creative Bloq, since they do add something to the story, even as commentary, that was not in Wired's report.

But second ... I looked around to see if more sources had arisen since the story broke two months ago, and used something like "MAGA-targeted AI influencers" as the string.

It turns out that there has been a lot of reliable coverage of this phenomenon generally: The New York Times, Agence France-Presse and 'CNN (an interesting wrinkle whereby photos of a real woman were used without her consent as the fake influencer).

This suggests to me that it would be better to broaden the scope of the article to something like MAGA-targeted virtual influencers (with the "Jessica Foster" mention, it's sort of pointing in that direction anyway). What that would mean for this nomination, I'm not sure yet. Daniel Case (talk) 17:59, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

@Daniel Case: I absolutely appreciate the thoughtfulness, but I wouldn't say it rises to the level – especially because it would also mean redacting everything up until your removal as collateral, which I think is more trouble than it's worth. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 02:02, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
@Theleekycauldron: As it is, the redacted above is a huge honking red flashing neon sign to open the edit window or the history and see exactly what was removed (I've done it; don't tell me you haven't). OK, not everything that gets redacted meets one of the RD criteria, but it seems we agree this does. What's the point of redaction then? I have always RD'ed edit summaries that allude to exactly what was RD'ed in the previous edit that amounted to a BLP vio, and I don't see why we don't more explicitly advise admins to do that (why RevDel deliberate misgendering only to leave huge clues that it was done in the first place, for instance?) Done right, it would be possible to keep all the unrelated discussion above on the page while removing my remark and (obviously, per my point above) this discussion to administrative-only view. I could give that a try; if it doesn't work I could just go back to the last version before having made the attempt. Daniel Case (talk) 02:18, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
I wouldn't complain if you performed a self-requested RD5 and removed this discussion, but I can't guarantee that someone else wouldn't. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 02:27, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

To quote from the source: I really made [the beat for 'Codeine Crazy'] for Nicki. 'Cause she was working on her album, and I was like, I wanted to give her beats so bad, but I ended up not getting them to her. So I think ALT1 needs to be rephrased. No QPQ needed as the nominator has less than five nominations. The hook is cited inline and verified. However, one of its two sources is the Times of India; per WP:TIMESOFINDIA, the source has a questionable history of fact-checking. Given that the hook is superlative (in this case "first" or "only"), I don't think it is usable for this claim. There is a second source, but given the circumstances, it is probably better to go with another hook. As an aside, even if we were to go with the Rashtrapati Bhavan angle, many international readers may not know it is the official residence of the President of India, so any hooks about it should instead be piped as "India's president's official residence" or "the official residence of India's president". I do think there's some potential to ALT4, perhaps building on the fact from the source that the move to list it on the municipal registry (not the Canadian Registry, which is distinct; the house had been on the federal registry since 2005) came after the owner's plans to demolish it, although "replace it with a driveway" leaves out the important context that the driveway is for a six-storey apartment building, not just being put in for the pleasure of knocking down old houses. DoNothingEveryday, is there anything else interesting you found in your research that might not be in the article and that might make for a good hook? Dclemens1971 (talk) 22:45, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
• @Dclemens1971 Hello! Sorry for the late reply on my behalf, I was at school when you messaged me, so forgive me. Anyways, here are some research I could find for the Killam house:
• The original article states that the Killam house was added to the Candian registry in 2005 but not in the municipal registry. The federal says it's an example of "well-preserved Queen Anne architecture."
• The official register states that the Killam house was built in circa 1898 - 1899, apparently built for A. E. Killam himself, but I don't know what records they have for that that say it was originally built for him. Anyways, it has been said to be accurately restored by its long-term current owners. It's architectural style from Queen Anne's architecture

That's legitimately it for the Killam House, if there's something interesting here, I guess it's fine. When you don't, it's fine as well. I mostly expanded Killam's article just so I get a DYK section again, so I don't mind if this is deleted. Cheers DoNothingEveryday (talk) 12:04, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

Whoops! Sorry about that @Dclemens1971, actually I had, but it's from a very dubious source here. Some notable facts about him in this biography:
• "At the age of 14 he took charge of a woodland farm, clear-ing and improving it, working on the farm in the summer time and in the lumber woods during the winter. Before he reached the age of 22 he had cleared and improved 100 acres of wood-land and had built his own house and barn, doing all the mechanical work, except the window sash, himself."
• He is "affectionately" referred to as "Johnnie Bull"
• He "voluntarily took position as chairman of the entertainment committee" (Killam made an unforgettable meeting in Quebec)
• "It is said that in 1896, when the Salvation Army first came to Moncton, there was much opposition, particularly as to their custom of street parades, and an effort was made to have the legislature prevent this. It was through Mr. Killam's influence that the Salvation Army was allowed the privilege of worship in accordance with its own custom, and it has since proved itself a useful adjunct to the community."

I don't think they're a reputable source, it seems like they're embellishing Killam here, but what do I know. DoNothingEveryday (talk) 14:30, 26 June 2026 (UTC

I ask because you've used it eight times in the article, and if you think so you should probably replace those citations. I would find it not dubious; I expect it is based on stories he told about himself in addition to the writer's personal knowledge of Killam. If you are willing to reconsider your assessment of it as a "dubious" source, I would suggest ALT4: ... that from age 14 to 22, Amasa E. Killam (pictured) personally cleared 100 acres (40 ha) of New Brunswick woodlands and built a barn and farmhouse on it? I think this is interesting. Dclemens1971 (talk) 14:13, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

The official histories relate that other farmers accused Kanemaru of stealing water, causing him to flee with his five-year-old brother Sen'i to the fishing village of Ginama on the northern tip of Okinawa., to me, if this is a legend, then the article does not do the job of telling us before hand. The article goes into a bit more depth about that later on; nothing concretely places Kanemaru on Izena except whatever oral history was incorporated into the official histories centuries later. They had not the natural aptitude of the Greeks for handling ships, and they can have had very little training in the operations of maritime warfare. They were unable, in the excitement of the action, to maintain a suitable distance between their ships. Some of these were too far from their neighbours and were easily sunk by the enemy, but most of them were too close together and had no room to manoeuvre. Their opponents, on the other hand, kept perfect order, and with cool readiness took advantage of all the blunders of the Goths, who at last, weary and helpless, gave up the contest and fled.

At present, though, it falls far short of the requirement for a 5x expansion. The last version before you began expanding it on 11 June had 2300 characters according to the WP:DYKCHECK tool, while the version when you finished expansion on 22 June had 7048 characters, nearly 40% shy of the 11500 required for a 5x expansion. Beyond this, expansions are expected to be completed within 7 days, and this expansion took 11. While reviewers are permitted to be a little flexible, especially with new nominators, we are not permitted to flex up to 40% of the requirement. Before I mark this nomination for closure, is it possible for you to quickly get the article up to 11500 characters of prose? Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:48, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

I confess that I misunderstood what "5x" meant, I assumed it meant five rounds of meaningful changes rather than a 5x expansion in character numbers. I may be able to expand the article further, but I wonder whether it would instead be possible to apply for DYK by another route, namely whether the article could now be classed as 'good' and so suggested that way? There do not appear to be any copyvios and the Earwig tool came back unlikely. The hook is interesting and less than 200 characters. However, there are a number of issues:

• The source for the sentence about the replica of the rail car at the Semakh Historic Railway Station museum failed verification, as the source does not mention the rail car at all. On the other hand I found and added a source for a separate fact in the article that could be used as a source to say a replica of the rail car is at a memorial site in Semakh (perhaps the railway station museum is that memorial site but then that would need a reliable source.
• The last paragraph about the YMCA has one source that also does not verify any of the facts in that paragraph. I found a blog site that mentions some of those facts but that does not appear to be a reliable source. So either reliable sources for those facts need to be added, or the paragraph needs to be removed.
• The source supporting the hook blocks me when I try to link to it from Wikipedia. I was able to link to it separately, but it is not clear that the source is reliable. I did find and add reliable source that mostly supports the hook. However, if that source is used, the hook needs to be revised slightly to something like:
ALT1 ... that during World War I, Baruch Katinka devised an "air-propelled railcar" (pictured) that reached speeds of over 80 km/h (50 mph) by attaching a 160-horsepower airplane engine and propeller to a railway car in Ottoman Palestine?
• I assume the image is fine since it comes from Commons, but the origin of the original photo is not clear so I can't be sure myself. I'll leave that to the uploading admin (once the other issues are corrected) to determine if they are comfortable with using the image. Rlendog (talk) 02:20, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

(in Dutch)Due to a red card, he was not allowed to play, but decided to take a seat on the bench as a coach. In that match, the referee awarded an indirect free kick after a handball by the goalkeeper outside the penalty area, and Zeegelaar pointed out to Amalensi that it should have been a direct free kick. "And he agreed with me. Afterwards, we started talking more often about refereeing in Suriname." Amalensi, whose son Sören is also a FIFA referee, advised Zeegelaar to take the refereeing course because he had mastered the rules of the game. Amalensi stated that a great career lay ahead of him. However, Zeegelaar only followed the advice after two years. After the start of the course, everything happened very quickly. Course instructors Hedwig Vinkwolk, Romeo Kabeli, and Gerrirt Niekoop were all impressed by his dedication and regarded him as a great talent.

• New enough (submitted 3 days after creation) and long enough (1950 characters). Article cites 13 sources, including newspapers and TV news sites, as well as interviews with blogs and websites about women's health and aging, plus a movie review website. If the blogs were the only sources in the article, we would have problems from a notability point of view, but thankfully this isn't an issue. That said, this is a biography of a living person and as such, the article needs to be BLP compliant per WP:BLP (please be sure to read that as the rules are quite strict). It would be great if you could do another pass at BLP review – for example, any birth date needs to have a clearly attributed source, so you need to put a footnote either in the lede or in the infobox, or re-state the year of birth in the article body text and add a footnote there. It's also worth going through and asking if every single blog in the article actually needs to be cited in the article – it's better to have as few "marginally reliable" or question mark sources cited in the article as possible, as they tend to raise flags, and be ready to defend your use of any less well known sources per WP:RS. (The Cite Unseen tool may be helpful for future (see WP:CITEUNSEEN). And as a side note, you probably should check out Wikipedia Library, as databases such as ProQuest look like they turn up additional newspaper articles.) Tone is neutral although there is some wording like "when jobs began to dry up" that sound too colloquial, which tends to creep in when citing Q&A interviews. Earwig says copyvio unlikely. QPQ is done. Regarding the hooks, I'm not convinced ALT0 is currently backed up by the source as the wording in the Women's Health is that she is the "oldest female to compete in an American Ninja Warrior obstacle" which is not necessarily the same thing. Regarding ALT1, I'm not convinced that the sources cited in the article back up the "four-time contestant" claim (are we sure she isn't competing in 2026? how do we know that from the sources you cited in the article?). ALT2 checks out per the archived URL for the SCMP article. As a side note, one of your sources says that Ginny MacColl also swims competitively in the National Senior Games, which seems like a good thing to include in the article. (Remember: You can always do searches to see what the most reliable source is you can find that backs up a given claim.) @Jishara: Good start, but please do another pass to make sure we don't run into problems with quality of sourcing/precision/verifiability, given that this is a BLP. @Jishara: Much better overall! One big red flag though is that we should avoid citing IMDb because it's crowd-sourced (see WP:IMDB). There may be other ways to get the same information like TV Guide or Google Books or Internet Archive or other websites...though sometimes if the only thing you're looking for is the name of the character, might just be better to leave it out. I can't access the WaPo article atm (Wikipedia Library link seems to be down) or I'd do it myself (just to verify). I linked some of the words in the body of the article. They should be linked in the lede and the body. Also, the lede provides a summary and I feel like some of the details are missing in the "Assignment" section. It just goes straight into the scandal without some of the background info included in the lede. APK hi :-) (talk) 03:23, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

I still think that although the lede summarizes the article, the "Assignment" section just goes straight into details without mentioning what the assignment is. Info from the first sentence in the lede "The Rialto Holocaust writing assignment was an eighth-grade writing assignment that the Rialto Unified School District in Rialto, California, gave to roughly 2,000 students in April 2014" should be in the first part of the "Assignment" section. Per MOS:INTRO: "The body is allowed to repeat points from the lead, since the lead summarizes the points of the body and the body provides elaboration on those points, which are usually reiterated." I went ahead and made some edits to address this. I removed two of the links from the "See also" section because they're already linked and mentioned in the body. I added a second mention of Islam's first name because it's mentioned once in the lede and now once in the body. APK hi :-) (talk) 19:24, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

It does not use promotional or overly negative language. WP:EARWIG shows no copyvios. The hook is interesting, but I'm not sure that the source supports the hook. Where does it talk about Brutalist and Gothic styles? QPQ is still missing. In the article I think "gothic" should be upper case in the passage the old gothic Convent of S. Domingos. Did you see Talk:Martins Sarmento Society Building, where I asked similar questions? TSventon (talk) 09:47, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the changes and the note about the talk-page discussion. If we don't have a source about Brutalism, then this should probably be removed from the article as well. Concerning the new hook: I don't see where the new source talks about Neo-Byzantine and Gothic styles or about changes in the 14th century. The QPQ is also still missing. The article is well-referenced and the copyvio check is clean too. For the main hook, it is pretty straightforward and supported by the online source. I've helped to clean up the article further and included a line highlighting the statue in the intro section of the article. The image used for the DYK is clear, and released under a suitable license. The nominator has also done his portion of QPQ as well. I prefer the ALT 1 hook as it highlights more details about the statue but still within the character limit. I suggest to remove "," for a slightly more natural wording. Once amended I have no further comments. SyFuelIgniteBurned 16:06, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Copyvio not a problem per spot check. QPQs are done. Article is tidy with nice infobox too. Hook is a winner but the one question is about whether "booed at" is the right choice for «En raison de sa taille, il se faisait siffler par les parents adverses…». How about "jeered at"? "Booed at" seems to suggest the parents actually said "boo" like Anglophone parents would... This is such an interesting question I found myself in rabbit holes reading non-RS articles that nevertheless tell you something useful like this one. @JTtheOG: Basically the issue is that the parents were probably actually whistling, which is the equivalent of American booing, but maybe "booing" makes it sound like they were actually saying "boo". Le Guérer provided Ropion with the actual formulas for the Ancient Egyptian and Roman perfumes, as well as the dregs of an old vial of Sand’s scent. The perfumes were precisely recreated with a modern approach, replacing ingredients no longer compliant with today’s safety regulations while maintaining each scent’s complexity, depth, and integrity. The distinct collection unearths fragrances once feared lost to time—and offers a new generation the chance to create their own olfactory portal to the past."

As part of the historical mini-collection, two more fragrances were added. Furthermore, they are much older: Artaban takes us to Ancient Rome, and Le Dieu Bleu takes us even farther back in time, to Ancient Egypt. Both of the fragrances, as well as Les Nuits, are the result of a collaboration with perfume historian Annick Le Guérer.

Artaban will take us to Ancient Rome, specifically the 1st century AD, when Rome and the Parthian Empire actively interacted. Artaban (also known as Artabanus, Artabanos or Ardawan in English historical literature) is the popular name of the rulers of Parthia from the Arsacid dynasty. Parthian incense was very popular with Roman nobles, which is not surprising: Parthia was considered a trendsetter in terms of perfumery in its region thanks to its rich culture and connections to India and China.

The list of ingredients for Parthian kings' perfumes was recorded by Pliny the Elder. There are slightly more than twenty of them, and not all of them are extremely exotic for the Roman Empire (for example, marjoram), but some of them were really expensive (myrrh, styrax), so Pliny the Elder condemned contemporaries for their wasteful perfumery practices."

However, reading the sources has me confused as to whether the wall is 27 km or 100 km. D’une longueur de 20 km, il relie Monieux à Cabrières."To halt the disease, a decision was made to build a 2-meter-high dry-stone sanitary wall. Stretching 20 km, it connected Monieux to Cabrières." Finally, Le Pelerin says, Le long de ses 27 km, la muraille comprend des dizaines de guérites et d'enclos qui, jadis, abritaient les soldats et leurs réserves de nourriture."Along its 27-kilometer stretch, the wall features dozens of sentry boxes and enclosures that once sheltered soldiers and their food supplies." Am I missing something? Where does it say that the wall is 100 km? BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:35, 26 June 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your review. I took this to mean that the wall was initially that long, but with the harvest of stone from it and general decay, only 27km survives/has been restored. Thriley (talk) 18:02, 27 June 2026 (UTC)

Many people don't know who Al Gore is. Explicitly defining when it happened (2000) and who he was (the Democratic nominee) helps with that. ALT3 and ALT4 were alternatives that some other editors helped work on to shorten it. If most of the hooks provide too much context, I think ALT4 is a good compromise. Also, given that there is an image attached, it would be hard to work that in to the hook you proposed because it doesn't explicitly state that it was in a campaign ad. aesurias (ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk) 04:41, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

Some cases (as in the swapping of #1 and #2) are placed in the wrong target-to-source. That means that source number 1 is what is actually linked to source number 2 and vice versa. In some other cases the source fails to verify the claim: for example, I see no "love the customer" quote in the two given refs for that claim. The hook is interesting and verified to the source given here (CNBC), but CNBC is not inserted in the article; thus, it can be argued that the hook fails verification in the article's body. Finally, copyediting and formatting is needed (commas after refs), etc. Ping me when/if these things can be solved. QPQ done. CoryGlee 17:20, 29 June 2026 (UTC)

Article has room for improvement, but certainly not problematic for DYK. Hook is properly cited and interesting, though comptroller should be lower-case in that usage (I believe "inspired that city's comptroller, Hyman," or "inspired Comptroller Hyman") and probably doesn't need to be wikilinked. Also could proceed by de-piping Hyman link and keeping the initial (seems to be how he was best known). Only real issue I see is that we're in backlog mode so you need another QPQ. Once you have that, lmk, and I'll check it off. Dizzycheekchewer (talk) 14:23, 28 June 2026 (UTC)

But when we got into the process of it I had ten songs and he had one or two, so we thought, alright let’s save that for another time and I’ll do this as my album with him producing it, we work on it, call it The New Sound and it sets up this sort of thing if we wanna do it again anyway.”

There was absolutely no context. I was a little resistant at first but then I sort of came around to it. I think it’s all good fun now.

I don't see anything in the body of the article saying it was famous or who is claiming it was famous. Spot checking sources: #2, #4, #5, #8, and Obit #3 look good. Regarding the last source, maybe it should be included after the mentioning of Goodluck's death he was called a "sports icon". The hook is sourced and interesting. Note: Articles intended to be held for special occasion dates should be nominated within seven days of creation from the start of expansion, or promotion to Good Article status. The nomination should be made at least one week prior to the occasion date, to allow time for reviews and promotions through the prep and queue sets, but not more than two months in advance. The proposed occasion must be deemed sufficiently special by reviewers. The timeline limitations, including the two month maximum, may be waived by consensus, if a request is made at WT:DYK, but requests are not always successful. Discussion clarifying the hold criteria can be found here: Hold criteria; discussion setting the two month limit can be found here: two month limit.
